By what measure would you say this is true? Name 1 person that Tomlin took under his wing and amounted to anything? He's been in his job 17 years, surely you can point to 1 former player or coach that has had success on or off the field.

This is where I keep repeating that this perception of Tomlin has a bunch of people fooled. Just because he's buddies with these athletes doesn't mean he's a good mentor or makes them well-disciplined or has helped them develop any other trait. He's an enabler. Those types of people in authority tend not to do well.

Here's a children's book analogy for those who can't quite grasp this concept:
Mostly based on his rating in the end of year player survey.

By the way, I'm not linking his perceived success or failure to mentor players with on the field success in any way, merely stating that Russell Wilson signing, and the fact that he and Tomlin hit it off, is low risk and not really something to criticize in the context of his price.

There is a lot of chatter that Queen was just a product of Roquan, and maybe he was. But maybe he learned a thing or two from Roquan also. Queen has pedigree and he has been productive. I am happy to have him in the fold.

Khan and Weidl with their 2nd offseason in a row that has been like taking BP with a corked bat.
He was a young draftee with first round pedigree and has been healthy. With what they had at ILB last year they needed someone like him.

I’m really curious to see what Khan’s got cooking for the secondary. Gimme one of Simmons/Curl/Blackmon/Whitehead Omar.

Sneed’s gotta be out of the picture at this point, right?

Could be totally misremembering but I’m pretty sure Queen kind of struggled until they brought in Roquan Smith.

Big signing though and hopefully will stop the revolving door of ILBs.

Edit: Damn that’s actually kind of cheap compared to what some of the other linebackers have been signing for.
He's 24, so if he struggled a bit at age 22 it's not exactly a surprise. He has a ton up upside, this a great pick up. And at less of a cap than I thought he would command.

Few small tidbits being chucked around Steelers Depot -

Peterson says he may still return to the Steelers
Apparently they were trying to trade Okorafor but nobody bit
Giants offered no assurances about playing time to Wilson
Only Meyer at JPJ's pro day

Was kind of like “ugh” when I got the push notification on Queen because of the “product of Roquan” stuff. I assumed he was getting an Edmunds type contract.

Then I saw the price. Not a bad deal at all.

Only Meyer at JPJ’s pro day is mildly surprising…unless Tomlin/Khan felt that the Senior Bowl meeting is enough.

It feels like one of the top 3 centers in the draft is inevitable although I don’t think JPJ or Barton make it out of round 1 and would be kinda surprised if Frazier makes it to the Steelers spot in round 2.

Which is why you take JPJ in round one if you can.

My guess is Oregon is a no-go because of the time of year and he's still on their board. We'll see if they do a formal visit to make up for missing out, or whether we're about to discover the Steelers are less obvious about who they want in the draft.

Holcomb seemingly won't be available for a while. Is Roberts signed for next season?

Holcomb got hurt in early November and his injury timeframe (assuming torn ACL) probably has him ready close to training camp.

Tomlin said it's still undetermined with him and they should have a clearer picture at OTAs.

Dk said Cole might struggle to just walk and take care of his family let alone playing football

Dk made it seem like Cole is medically retired
