Blackhawks fan here. Just wanted to offer my congratulations. Hope you guys make some noise in the playoffs. Marvelous job by your GM. Miss our budding rivalry and if you get the Red Wings do us a solid and knock them out. Best of luck, guys.

Thanks, but we don't miss playing you guys 5 times a year. :sarcasm:

So excited to finally experience playoff hockey in Columbus. The last trip was during my 22 months as a Nashville resident. I've already got tickets for game 3, we're gonna blow the roof off Nationwide.

Can't wait!

Same here. Seems like Columbus fans hate Nash, which is fine and I would probably feel the same way. But I'm happy for Dubinsky and Anisimov, I like seeing former Rangers be successful. But, I do think a rivalry between the Rangers and Jackets is developing and a playoff series would be a lot of fun.

Congrats, guys.

Thanks. Actually no, I don't hate Nash (most don't; although he was trying to get more to hate him last game). Just never really liked the Rangers. It's all good. I don't expect that sentiment to be returned. Yet.. lol

Uhh. IDK about that. I think the last game turned the page for alot of fans and made them jump to the hate side. It did for me and my dad, and if you were in the arena there wasn't a single CBJ fan happy with Nash. He got his cheers (which were underwhelming with alot of boos too) during his recognition, but when he didn't even acknowledge the fans about it, it rubbed me the wrong way. Then of curse the Bob thing.

Long story short, I think CBJ faithful have now turned on Nash for the most part.

I didn't think most CBJ fans hated Nash until I read your post-game thread. Enough time has passed, in my opinion, where you can of course respect what Nash meant for your franchise, but with his handling of the trade and since he's now playing in your division so I can understand a lot of the harsh words. Most people don't like the Rangers anyway, so welcome to the club :naughty:

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at.

Between NJ, NYI, PHI, PIT and WAS we have some great Metropolitan division rivals. It'd be great to add some hatred for Columbus too, but for now I send sincere congratulations and best wishes in the playoffs.

It's unlikely we face them, scenarios we could meet them would be in second round IF:

CBJ get #3 metro spot and beat NYR
DET gets #1 wild card and beats PENs

Otherwise, it would have to be Eastern Conference Finals.

Keep in mind that the GDT isn't a real representation of our fan base. This is obviously a small representation of the more hard-core fans. Also, if you were say "post" that would be later in the thread. After Nash and Bob started fencing and Nash was getting kind of cranky.

As far as the welcome; I was an original charter member.. lol

Nash's wife is from here, he still maintains a house. He will be continue to be a good citizen during his time here (I'm sure he'll still do charitable work in central ohio). The rivalry on the ice may grow; but I bet 90% of the fans would love to get back for a final run to end his career. He will be forever linked to our city. Hell he may never get another 40 goal season. That may change some if he helps you win a cup (in his mind at least). He's a Ranger, but his ties are still strong to this city.

The hard core fans will start to hate him more and more. The casuals will generally follow along but forget they hate him by the time they get in their car to drive home that night.

I don't think it's Rangers or Rangers fans the hate is directed as much as the situation Nash and the other trades between the clubs. Nash is kind of like that ex-wife who left you because she thought she could do better, now you have a chance to prove you're better than her new beau. I think it would be a competitive, brutal series. We've been steamrolled by Pens and Bruins this season and there's a fear that we'll get swept again by either of them.

What? Nash wanting to leave was one of the better decisions he's made. It helped both teams out. He got the playoffs and actions sent a lot of solid depth our way.

We should be saluting and thanking him every chance we get.

He can't look at this team in the playoffs now and say that with his presence here we would be in the playoffs today. He got what he wanted and we get what we needed.

It was great.

Late to the party because of work but MAN am I happy tonight! I was at the season final game last year with the Preds. That night went from one extreme emotion of joy to the other of sadness within 30 mins after the game. Stood outside the 3 legged mare with about a hundred other people watching Colorado loose in the final mins and with that our playoff hopes were OVER. Almost without a sound people walked away.

This is a sweet feeling right now and I'm happy for all of you fans on here that have been there from the beginning like me and have suffered. The fans needed this and deserved this. Now let's do something we did not do in 09, lets do some damage this time!

Europe. Somewhere.
Pure elation. I hate being in England where I'm 5 hours ahead of everyone, basically sleeping in the glory of this result. It still feels the same, though. Pure elation.

I browse around various team forums from time to time, usually after games to check out reactions, and I have to say, win or lose, I/we love the Jackets more than most fans. And I can relate to that as far as my NFL team (KC) goes, since I often find myself hating them. I don't with the Jackets. That's because of the type of team we've built, the types of players we've brought in and the culture we've developed. This team never makes me want to throw my remote at the TV, even if they lose in heartbreaking fashion. They never make me think things like "overpaid POS" or "if only that guy cared about hockey."

Not to start anything controversial but Gaborik truly didn't fit in with that. And I never really found myself cheering for him the way I do guys like Dubi, JJ, Calvert, etc.

Anyway, hopefully we can get healthy before the playoffs. But I very much believe it's more important to avoid the Bruins than be 100% healthy, so I really hope we do everything we need to to get #7 or #3 (let's face it, #2 isn't happening). I truly believe through enough hard work and just enough skill we could get past the Pens (yes I know our record this regular season, but if you want to engage in a playoff matchup discussion I'm game) or Rangers. The Bruins, on the other hand, are truly a different animal in the playoffs; they really do have it all in terms of size, speed, skill, grit and work ethic. There's nothing they lack. They're like the Blue Jackets on steroids.

And what he wanted was out of Columbus. I think fans would like to see the team prove is how great it was and that we are better without him. Maybe you bought his spin that he was doing it for Columbus?

To my mind that is the mission of the next two games: avoid the Bruins.

No one wants Boston? :sarcasm:

Don't see how getting Philly would happen, but a Bob vs Mase showdown would be FANtastic.

Having Nash & co. back in town for the playoffs would be pretty cool too... if he thought his last visit was inhospitable, yikes.

I think you are missing the subtleties here. He didn't want out of Columbus; he didn't want to go through another rebuild. He wanted to win. Huge difference and a distinction that I think is missed on the common fan.

This wasn't a guy that wanted out of a winning organization to get better endorsement deals in NY. If he was he could have forced himself out before the last contract we gave him. By all accounts he would have been happy to stay here if we were competing for the playoffs every (or maybe even most) years. Most players want a chance at the Cup. He got one chance during his long career here. Cut him a little slack. As you can tell, I fully understand he did it mostly for himself. However, yes I do think that he wanted the Jackets to get a lot in return for him and I do think he thought trading him might help the Jackets rebuild quicker. You know what there is nothing wrong with selfishness when you are starting to move past your prime and no Cup run is in your immediate future. He showed great loyalty to this organization for longer than I might have.

This was not a slap to the city, it's fans, or even it's owner (he's been nothing be positive about the ownership here). Perhaps a bit to the front office.

I was very critical of Nash the player. He's a great player, but I don't think he plays up to his elite status or contract. I might even grow to dislike him as part of, hopefully, a grown rivalry on game days. However, Nash the person? Not a chance.

Anyone comparing him to Carter or Foote (I saw some earlier in the year trying it) should be given a major and a game misconduct with fines and suspensions for repeat offenses.
