Now over the final 2 games they have a game with a team that has an injured starting goalie (Tampa) and a team that has been out of it for quite a bit of time. (Florida)

Detroit has Carolina and St. Louis.

I'm liking their odds to keep hold of the 7 spot for Pittsburgh. Philly still controls their destiny so 3rd seems like a long shot to me.

Agreed 7th seems a likely landing spot. Though I am hoping to steal the 3rd metro slot for a NYR series. Either way an awesome season for the CBJ...never would have thought at the time of the Nash trade we would be talking playoffs so soon. I'll conclude with my new favorite chant: CBJ! CBJ! CBJ! CBJ! CBJ!

I don't understand wanting to face the Rangers. I myself want to face the worst goaltending, and that's MAF or Mase. Since we are 0-5 to Pitt, I'll take Flyers.

From a pure hatred and karmic retribution standpoint, the flyers or Rangers would work.

Enjoy the moment and this feeling boys and girls. After all you've gone though these past years, you deserve it. It couldn't happen to better fans.

Not sure I'd lump Flower into the worst category...................

BTW, love the avatar. That's something I screamed in Nashville (much to the local's annoyance) when I was at that game (1-0 Bob SO).

I voted Philly, because I'd love to see us put a beatdown on Mason. But, I don't see that as a very likely matchup.

Of the three remaining matchups, I think we matchup best against Pitt, NYR, Bos in that order.

In my defense, in the company of Hank and Rask, MAF would be 3rd IMO. Hes been better than he gets credit for though. Mase would be 4th obviously.

Because it's quite a bit easier to shut down the Rangers offense and get winnable games into the 3rd period.

Our special teams are average. The last thing I want is a very good 5 on 5 team with one of the best PP and PK's in the league on a nightly basis.

With the Pens you are hoping MAF chokes or they simply slump.

I do not like a Pens matchup at all. I think we're looking for them to fold as opposed to us playing our game and keeping it close.

You can play puck possession and control play for 3/4's of all 5 on 5 time and still, easily, lose 4-1 to the Pens. They can score on the rush really well and we don't score enough with all that work on the forecheck (we don't get rewarded nearly as much as we should).

Hope that answers your question. From my perspective at least.

That's cool. My perspective is that with Bob he should be able to keep us in games, but our sputtering offense, I don't have much faith they could beat Hank 4 times.

I don't want the Pens either, I don't think we could keep up with them, but I do view MAF to be inferior to Hank, albeit not by that much and maybe my opinion is admittedly biased by past seasons. I dunno.

All I know is its a great problem to be having.

does it really matter?
The Rangers would be a great opening opponent for one simple reason. Beating Rick Nash. I truly enjoyed watching him in a Jackets uniform until his last year after his trade request and him not fitting into the "C" like we all had hoped.

I'm ordering my tickets when I get home tonight - no way in hell am I going to let a fan of a potential opponent take my spot.

I have a feeling it's going to be Pitt. If that's the case then tell all your friends to get down to NW arena & get tickets. Do not let Penguins fans get most of them.

The three most likely matchups each have pluses and minuses and I can't decide. I want the team to beat whoever the opponent is, and sorting through the pluses and minuses is too hard, so I'm not picking.

.... he didn't want to go through another rebuild. He wanted to win.

However, Nash the person? Not a chance.

Sorry to poach just on two points, but:
1. The problem I have with the didn't want to go through another rebuild, that I understand, but as a fan still gets me going is that he didn't think he could win here. Logically, makes sense. Adrenalined up athlete/fan view - pretty much a pisser.

2. Nash the person, nice guy. Nash the athlete, expensive dick. I said in the other thread I believe in booing the other teams best players regardless (Forsberg is my best example, hell of a player but hated playing against him). I think Nash crossed the line form being just that to be something more of a dirt bag with going after Bob. As a player you take abuse from the goalie. Period. You get back in subtle ways like scoring, screening, tapping, etc. but not what Nash did and that lowered the bar for his behavior on the ice. Off, if he wants to get a beer, sure. On, I'll go back to cheering kill jack kill just like at UM.

Separate topic.
That pic with everyone in the air is sweet and I think emblematic of the bright future we have ahead! Playoffs baby.
