What the hell is Swayman's GAA at this point?
I think it is something like 7.

Which, not surprisingly, is probably about 10 times less than his Save %.

On a serious note, I've always liked Sway. Seems like a nice kid.

However, he looks like a total idiot right about now. The arrogance of thinking he was setting the bar and carrying water for other goalies now and in the future. Of course he can correct the course, but at the same time he wouldn't be first goalie to fall off the cliff. Time to put on your big boy pants Jeremy -- and QUICK.

I like Andy Brickley.

As the team spirals farther down, his sarcastic side comments often amuse me.
I did like his parking lot comment last night.

Just two seasons ago the Bruins had the best record and it was the most fun I've had watching hockey (until the playoffs but I'm not going there)

Just two seasons ago. That makes this season even harder to watch.
I’m still shocked they put up 65 wins that year. There were many games where they coasted taking at least 20 minutes off a night and managed to win with stellar goaltending. They set an NHL wins record while not consistently giving a 60 minute effort and it was probably the worst thing for the core players.

sucks they are playing this bad.
Only positive is there are still alot of games left.
I am blaming this whole shitty start on Swayman. He missed camp and he has sucked in pretty much every game hes played. I think his only good game was against a good Kings team, which we won.

In Sweeney's defense the mandate is 41 sell outs. That's it.
Well according to this thread title, he’s already failed.
I’m with @BruinDust, Sweeney has to go. He built this team, 95% are his guys (other than our two leading scorers). He can not be allowed to “rebuild” the roster again. Get someone in that isn’t in love with the players and will make smart/hard decisions Sweens can’t or won’t make.
At the end of the day, even if it is coaching or the team or whatever, these are HIS coaches, HIS players, HIS prospects, HIS responsibility. His shelf life here is done IMO

All joking aside, I have no issues with the Bruins absolutely bottoming out this season. It has to happen at some point - we've had a great run and very nearly had huge success. We have one Cup in the not so distant past, and could have had two others. Disappointing but shit happens.

Need to rebuild and restock for the next wave.

Unless this team does a magical 180 and soon, any trade (now or at TDL) that includes a draft pick going to another team should be an immediate fierable offense.

Generally speaking I am not a fan of trading the best player but at this point I would consider offering up Pasta to the Sharks. Their talent pool is deep, standing expectations still low, their picks are attractive and Pasta is young enough, he would give Celebrini someone to pass to.

Without Sweeney.

That was one of the worse events I have ever attended. The team was so flat and Columbus was clearly not good but had their way with us.

On Montgomery. He won a round last year, first one in 3 years. 2023 not his fault the players choked 2 leads game 6 and one lead game 7. If you’re going to fire the guy after 20 games then the GM should go too.

Team this year turns out is complete trash. Shocked me. I had 110 pts. You want to fire him fine, with the caveat if they don’t turn it around and make the playoffs Sweeney is gone too. Deal?
If you think it's unfair to fire Monty because of 2 good regular seasons, then how could you fire Sweeney after 9 successful seasons? Since 2015-16 Sweeney has more points than any GM in hockey. He's won GM of the Year, built a team that got to G7 of the Cup Final. So no, that doesn't feel like a fair deal.

If 2 good years buys Monty more than 20 games, what does 9 good years buy Sweeney?

Fwiw, I honestly don't know what to do. Monty has been a great regular season coach, but I can't say I've loved his playoffs. The goalie choices, the too many men penalties, the line juggling... And now he's struggling in the regular season and seems like he's out of answers.

At the same time, shame on the players for not being able to muster up the effort to play 60 minutes consistently. Shame on them for showing up out of shape. Every single player on this team is having a bad season. And the disappointment goes double for Pasta and Swayman who represent $20m on our cap and are playing like they don't want to be here.

Meanwhile Neely and Sweeney hide in their tower and say nothing, do nothing. I know they're trying to make a deal behind the scenes but this situation needs more. Adding a forward isn't going to make Swayman good again. It's not going to fix our PK or our defensive structure.

Bruins now have three league leaders.

Zadorov with 46 penalty minutes, Swayman with 47 goals allowed and Pasta with 82 shots on goal.
Lol. I'm actually most surprised at Pasta. He didn't have a single shot on goal against Columbus.

Elias Lindholm was a top 5 pick.

Hampus wat a 6th overall pick.
Zacha was also 6th overall.

That's just it, we sometimes rejoice with a win but then rethink "ya, but we beat a shitty team".
Now we're the shitty team.
There is a ton of mediocre teams in the NHL. Right now Boston is clearly in that mix due to the poor play of most of the most important players on the team. Swayman, McAvoy, Carlo, Pastrnak, E. Lindholm, Coyle have been playing way below their talent levels. Add in Frederic, Geekie, Zadorov and Lohrei playing below last years level and you end up with this current record.

Last night three very good teams from last year in Edmonton, Dallas and Boston all lost to Montreal, Anaheim & Columbus respectively. How does that happen?
I thought only Boston losses to " shit" teams?

Worst thing Sweeney can do is panic.

Yup.
But if you watch the pp, everyone on the team handles the puck like a grenade
#88 had 110 points last year with #18 as his center the entire year so he didn't need a true "#1C" last year did he?
