Value of: Trouba

Detroit doesn't even consider this. It's pretty simple from their pov, wait and see if Trouba hits free agency and make a play there or if he plays hardball with Jets, significantly limiting number of teams he'd sign long term with then try and scoop him up for a bargain. Otherwise, he'll be playing elsewhere because they aren't paying a premium for him

Jets bigtime pass on this

Kadri+liljigren+kap or andres
I would likely take that deal as a Jets fan. Hard to imagine getting a much better offer. Kadri is not the player I want but I think he is getting judged harshly based on a few bonehead plays in the playoffs moreso than his skill. I like liljigren and Kapanen. This deal would make it much more palatable to trade a winger for another D.

From you description of your prospects it doesn't sound too enticing. A 3C, a bottom pairing defenseman and a late first should be able to be beaten by someone else. I couldn't care less that Howden is from Winnipeg.

Any deal with the Rangers must include Andersson or K’Andre Miller and the Jets 1st back plus a warm body to fill in on the blue line like maybe Pionk or Hajek with maybe a small add from the Jets (Perreault) to balance the overall value.

I wonder what the actual market is for Trouba. A lot of mediocrity being peddled Winnipeg’s way. Do they take what can they get, or do they simply keep Trouba as an own rental?

I agree. He actually managed to talk me out of it when describing why Winnipeg should do it.

It makes me laugh when people use the Winnipeg angle........who cares.
It's not worth nothing. A guy from here might love being able to hit up a backyard bbq with a childhood friend, or take his kid to the same rink he grew up on. Probably increases the chances of staying with the team, and to a lesser degree his willingness to do so at a good price.

Then again, a lot of people ditch our fair city and never look back.

Agree......there is also many people who move here from aboard and never leave.

Search his demands during arbitration...

Yeah, I recall that now. But that is an arbitration asking point. It isn't something they expect to get. They may expect that by now, or not. No one has ever said Overhardt was shy about asking for a lot of money.

I know a few! I went the other way with it, but for me it was about seeing what else was out there in the world. I personally love Winnipeg and can't wait for each chance I get to get back and visit.

Last time was that massive snow dump at the end of February last year and I was like a kid in a candy store. I even made a snow angel in the front yard of my airbnb!

Well...we know 1 that won't be. ;)

From the Flyers, Sanheim and his contract and upside for Trouba is a no go. Hell, Sanheim even outproduced Trouba at ES this year. The edge in points is Trouba on the PP. And that's with Hakstol giving Sanheim the 7th most minutes per game until he was fired. That's right, he got less minutes per game than Hagg, Gudas, AMac, and even Folin.

From Dec 17 onward(Hak no longer coach), Sanheim had 21 ES points to Trouba's 15. In fact, Sanheim was 9th in ES scoring for Dmen once the shackles of Haksol were off him. He is not going anywhere.

But I understand Jets fans wanting a great young D. Why wouldn't they?

I do find it funny how the Flyers #11 pick is viewed as "just a 1st". It's 3 picks higher than we grabbed Farabee. It will be interesting to see what teh actual return ends up being.

I totally understand your point here, but wanted to point out that from the end of February onwards Morrissey was hurt and Trouba was carrying around Beaulieu so the ES production is probably pretty equal if Morrissey's injury didn't occur. Flyers have lots that the Jets would like and IMO there's a deal to be made here. Obviously Sanheim would be asked for but realistically you probably want to run a top 4 of Provy - Trouba and then Sanheim - Ghost.

Flyers could get a deal done without Sanheim. 11OA has value and if the Jets really like a player on the board at that point it could have lots of value. Phil Myers would be of interest to the Jets as a prospect with top 4 upside that is ready to step in next year. He becomes a likely third pair guy for you with a Trouba acquisition and would be blocked by Gudas... (who we don't really want). We'd like Patrick or Frost too.

With Carter Hart now you guys are ready to head back to the playoffs now so maybe an 11OA + P. Myers + Frost for Trouba + Perreault (or something like that) could work as you have Couts and Patrick as your top 6 Cs. An elite and young top 4 D that will carry you a long time. If you don't like that trade it's fine. The point is that we'd love Sanheim but he wouldn't necessarily be required in a trade. Getting a potential top 4 D and a potential 2C and whatever we'd draft at 11OA is a good futures package that addresses all the Jets needs. We'd have to hope the prospects panned out and it hurts is in our current contention window but creates a second window in a few years when Scheif, Laine, Ehlers, Connor, JMo are all in their prime.

A comparable is Dougie Hamilton who was traded from the Bruins to the Flames for a 1st, and 2 2nds.

I think from Flyers fans (in this thread and others) I have seen Gostisbehere and a 2nd and 1st and Gudas. The first, I feel is a fair trade, the 2nd probably needs to have a 2nd added to it in order to get the Jets value similar to what the Bruins got for Hamilton.

I will be tolerant here....you are not going to get close to that type of return for Trouba. And I will leave it at that.

Maybe not from Philly but Trouba also isn’t likely traded for pennies on the dollar either.

The market really depends on the number of places Trouba is willing to sign long term.

Jets fans want like 6th overall and Hronek from Detroit for Trouba. They seem to think they will get premium value for him
And why wouldn't they? How often do guys like this become available? The answer is: very rarely.

All it takes is two teams to be interested, and you have a bidding war.

Taking cap space out of the equation, 30 teams would be interested in a player like this.

I never claimed Trouba would be pennies on the dollar. But no one is paying the equivalent of 3 mid-1st rounders like what was just asked for.

They will get 1 very good asset like a top prospect or pick like #11, and then a secondary asset that can fill in now(like a Gudas), or a 2nd. They won't get 2 grade A assets back.

Stone returned Brannstrom and a 2nd. Brannstrom would likely have the value around #11....that's the A asset.

And I have said before, if Trouba gets back a deal that wow's me, I have no issue coming in and saying so. It does only take 1 GM to overpay. I personally wouldn't overpay in a trade because based on all his salary demands with the Jets, he wants big money. And I don't want the trickle down effect that will have on our young D.

Well cap space takes plenty of teams out interested or not

i think a deal similar to what Pacioretty did as a trade & sign would be fair?

a top 15 1st round asset/equivalent (Suzuki)
a mid-late 2nd round pick or equivalent
a replacement player who is a tier down (Tatar)

Trouba plays a more coveted position, and is younger than Pacioretty though. But just a basis/starting point. I doubt the Jets get Sanheim, i doubt they get 1st+Myers+Frost etc. I think a package around 1st+Myers is feasible, but not both the 1st (11th)+Frost.

If there's a team out there with an excess/proven top 6 C and developing RD perhaps a Trouba+Roslovic package (basically WPG trades the proven top pair RD/developing Fwd prospect for a proven top 6C/developing RD prospect)

I agreed with Your entire post up till the end, regarding Trouba contract demands. Do you know the year Trouba held out, no contract was even discussed (until a bridge was done)? There is zero reliable source quoting any Trouba contract demands, the only thing some media have speculation is on is using comparable players/contracts.....using that logic no one should be shocked regarding his demands/what he gets. Expect 7.5 - 8.25 per year long term.....people who need a #1-2RHD in his prime will leap to pay him that. Some will not have the cap to afford (or they have other priorities to use the cap on) such a luxury, which is fine. There is zero evidence Trouba “contract demands” with Winnipeg have been unreasonable to-date......sounds/looks like he just wants out of Winnipeg/Canada which has nothing to do with salary contract demands.
