Value of: Trouba

From you description of your prospects it doesn't sound too enticing. A 3C, a bottom pairing defenseman and a late first should be able to be beaten by someone else. I couldn't care less that Howden is from Winnipeg.
They’re also U22, that’s what they are atm. I don’t think Jets fans comprehend the concept of leverage. Having it or not and it’s severity. Every fan base on this site says you guy are too high on him. Im of the school that if it smells like shit and it looks like shit, it’s probably shit. Have fun being combative though.

ok so u overvalue prospects because they play for the team you like

AHL players in their early 20s putting up sub PPG numbers are dime a dozen and have little value, picks in the 20-30 range don't offer much either when talking about a 24 year old right shot top 30 Dman

LOL sounds to me you don't know what your talking about at all

1 you don't even know that Trouba is 25 already not 24
2 Mike Amadio is playing in the nhl not ahl but his last two part years in the ahl is 58 points in 60 games pretty much point a game.

You are probably named right thou :) Also let not think hes a top pairing defenseman in la who has a defenseman named Drew Doughty . Lets also not think you would get max value on a ufa to be on a team hes been wanting to get off for years. 2 elc contract and a first pick is a decent offer but you can keep ur homer glasses on and we will see exactly what he get when hes gone :)

The only caveat here is that a lot of American guys seem to like Toronto. Kessel re-upped for 8 years, JVR wanted to re-sign, and Gardiner would come back but Leafs are cap strapped.

I don't think Trouba ends up in Toronto though, as much as I would like to add him.
Its not extremely farfetched given that he's a Michigan guy and would only be a few hours out playing in Southern Ontario. A verbal contract would have to be in place.

Kadri + (i.e. Bracco?) would be a solid base unless Winnipeg wants purely futures or a lateral trade (e.g. Sergachev). Not sure about the value but I have a gut feeling if Naz is traded its to a central team. WPG/COL/NSH/MIN all could use a 2A centre who can handle the physicality of that division.

We do not want Kadri in Winnipeg.

Toronto can keep him.

No chance we trade RNH for Mantha and moving up 2 spots in the draft. Detroit is making out like bandits IMO.

Revised trade

Edmonton:
Mantha + Ehlers+ Lowry

Detroit:
Trouba + 8 OA + Sekera

Winnipeg:
RNH+6OA+Bear

We lose Trouba, Ehlers and Lowry for that garbage.

No thank you.

I'm not being combative though. Just because someone doesn't like your offer, doesn't mean they're combative. Try offering a little more quality and maybe you can get a discussion going.

You are right about the leverage though, the Jets have far more than "every other fan base" wants to admit to themselves. Trouba is a rare young, #1 RHD. GM's will be falling over themselves trying to get their offers heard by Winnipeg.

I know every fan's fantasy is to get a great player while giving up nothing of value. It just won't happen in this case and rarely happens at all.

No chance Kadri is the center piece in a trade for Trouba.

This is really, really bad for the Jets.
I looked at this as a very good pick to replace Ehlers long term while giving some short term Cap relief. The key piece is RNH for the second line with Laine. This deal gives Winnipeg the ability to retain Connor, Myers and Laine. For the short term it opens up some icetime for Roslovic

Assuming Trouba (& Myers is ejected into the sun, Jets don't want him back) is traded as per this thread, the Jets cap issues are largely gone. Thus no need to trade Ehlers....who has a very good long term contract he is literally one of the last guys you would trade to make cap space. People need to stop watching the media who's job is to create hype, speculation and buzz.......people should look at the numbers themselves.

Trouba is likely traded.

Myers is pushed out the door and called a cab.

Kulikov is traded (with C level prospect or mid range pick) or bought out.

MP is traded for a small return like 5th or 6th Rd pick.

Assuming above, Jets have lots of cap space (roughly 35 million cap space) to sign Laine, Connors, plus a TBD bridge solution at RHD and Copp. Rest of the players to be signed are all cheaper guys (bottom six) and/or can be replaced from within. Sky is not falling, zero need to trade a Ehlers "for cap reasons"........now he could be traded to fill another need IE top 4 RHD if Trouba is traded for futures......but that's not for cap reasons. The media created buzz around the Jets cap is assuming everyone will be signed, given long term deals and no one is traded.......literally this is wrong on all fronts. Copp will get 2-3 year deal, Connor will get long term, Laine could get a bridge or long term.....likely a bridge after a down year.......Myers will not be signed, Trouba will be traded. Then MP & Kulikov are good in their roles and add value just are overpaid so they will be kept if possible and traded/bought out if required.

Winnipeg has leverage as long as two or more teams want to acquire Trouba. It seems that is clearly the case, so any team that wants to acquire Trouba will have to outbid other teams. That is what will set the trade price.

Because he had a career year I think he could fetch more than the Jets would typically ask for.

But I'd think 1st + Grade-A Prospect would cut it, plus conditional picks depending on what contract he signs and his production.

Can't stand Kadri and not sure the Jets would like his baggage.

Liljegren has a long way to go to show that he's a bona fide NHL D. I like Kapanen, but the Leafs would have to add better parts to him

Agreed. Kadri is very good 3C (which we don't need) or a decent 2C on some teams but he's too close to a lateral move to Little and his style isn't what the Jets need (aka a slightly younger Little). Liljegren still not clearly a NHL dman quality (maybe eventually). Kap is most interesting one of the three, but he's a winger which isn't a need and far from Trouba value. Plus Kadri is possibly one significant hit/stick infraction away from 20+ suspension. IMO the Leafs could put together a decent/good offer for a signed Trouba......but Kadri & Liljrgren wouldn't be part of the offer.

More like a 3C, 5/6W and a defenseman prospect that may one day make it as a bottom pair guy and work up from there, but he's still a year our two away from that.
Liljegren is a year or two away from bottom pair duty? He likely makes the team out of camp and was in line for a call-up 6 months ago before injuring his ankle, as per Dubas. The Marlies are in the ECF and he's been their best skater.

And Kadri is a 3C? Kapanen a 5/6 W? He had 6 points less than Laine in 4 fewer games.

You don't have to like it, but that is where they would slot on the Jets. Kapanen can't pass anyone in our top six. Kadri isn't good enough for 2C, likely wouldn't beat out Lowry for 3C as Maurice loves Lowry and Kadri is a huge negative for any team in the playoffs. While Liljegren would be on the Moose next season. In other words a pretty accurate assessment. Team needs matter and those players don't help the Jets.

Kadri scored 32 goals in 2 of the last 3 seasons but he isn't good enough for the 2nd line and is behind Lowry who has a career high of 29 points. Checks out.

I know you want to live in the past, but Kadri severely regressed this year and is a net negative when you include his playoffs. Sorry, but Kadri is nowhere near good enough to build an offer around for Trouba.

Flyers wouldn’t trade Sanheim for Trouba straight up soooo there’s that.

You realize to get a good player, a somewhat decent GM will expect good players coming back, right?

GM Pierre Dorion has been getting it in people's heads that you can just give away prime pieces for terrible returns.

Chevy is a shrewd GM. He's not taking 10 cents on the dollar.
