Value of: Trouba

ok so u don't know anything about young prospect players got u
ok so u overvalue prospects because they play for the team you like

AHL players in their early 20s putting up sub PPG numbers are dime a dozen and have little value, picks in the 20-30 range don't offer much either when talking about a 24 year old right shot top 30 Dman

No chance we trade RNH for Mantha and moving up 2 spots in the draft. Detroit is making out like bandits IMO.

Revised trade

Edmonton:
Mantha + Ehlers+ Lowry

Detroit:
Trouba + 8 OA + Sekera

Winnipeg:
RNH+6OA+Bear

Detroit doesn't even consider this. It's pretty simple from their pov, wait and see if Trouba hits free agency and make a play there or if he plays hardball with Jets, significantly limiting number of teams he'd sign long term with then try and scoop him up for a bargain. Otherwise, he'll be playing elsewhere because they aren't paying a premium for him

Nor should they

Yea I think you’ll get a lot for him just not as much as some people think. Pick the right prospects and hit on the picks and it’ll be a great deal.

I agree that it will almost certainly be less than what some are expecting. OTOH, I think it will be more than what some others are expecting.

Bottom line, he is a 25 YO, first pair RHD who just scored 50 points playing mostly a shutdown role. Those are extremely rare. Top pair RHD are the second most highly desired players, after 1C's.

He is also a player who has been difficult to sign and who is represented by Kevin Overhardt. That is cause for caution. But on the good side, he has never brought his issues to the rink.

He is a very valuable player and will bring a big return - as long as the acquiring team is confident of signing him at a figure they can live with.

Karlsson went for a late 1st, 2nd and a few decent roster players. Muzzin went for a late first, a 2nd and a few prospects. EK has a lot more value than Trouba and Muzzin is pretty similar, maybe Trouba is a bit more valuable.

I’d upgrade it if it was a sign and trade.

It’s tough to figure that out. The flyers have plenty of prospects that they could trade. Im sure they’d add a first from next year as well. And then a roster player like gudas or Hagg.

Not really. As of now Trouba is a rental that is interested in UFA. He wants to leave his team. It’s rumored Canada is out as an option.

Sanhiem could very well be more valuable next year. It’s possible he could sign long term to sub 5 mill contract and could put up big numbers. You wouldn’t trade Sanheim straight up for a signed Trouba so the convo does not start there. That would be better value than Karlsson.
Philly doesn't do a deal with out being given permission for an extension. Thats why it be a low ball offer. And if Trouba wants out, he wont wanna wait for an offer sheet so the Jets match. A signed Trouba is worth more then a Sanheim. Trouba is a 50 pt two way right handed defenseman teams covet. So yes its starts with Sanheim+. U have to give quality to get quality

Trade deadline trouba gets 1st plus prospect so start from there.

Dallas? I dont see it.

I think Dallas might be a team Trouba would sign with. I would be surprised if they would pay the price to get him though. Their 1st would be OK to start but I think the add would have to be something they would not part with, like Heiskanen or Klingberg.

 That's a bit of a snarky response - but those are 2 later picks who are outperforming their draft position + a latish 1st rd pick. Not trash.

I would want solid scouting reports on those 2 players. If they get good marks from the scouts, that offer could be in the ballpark. Maybe a tad disappointing but if that was the market, I could live with it.

No ones trading Sanheim for trouba buddy. And definitely not with a +.

Not giving up both Trouba and Ehlers for that. Never mind adding Lowry. No thanks.

Wow, a lot of teams are going to be signing Trouba on July 1, 2020...
Well...we know 1 that won't be. ;)

From the Flyers, Sanheim and his contract and upside for Trouba is a no go. Hell, Sanheim even outproduced Trouba at ES this year. The edge in points is Trouba on the PP. And that's with Hakstol giving Sanheim the 7th most minutes per game until he was fired. That's right, he got less minutes per game than Hagg, Gudas, AMac, and even Folin.

From Dec 17 onward(Hak no longer coach), Sanheim had 21 ES points to Trouba's 15. In fact, Sanheim was 9th in ES scoring for Dmen once the shackles of Haksol were off him. He is not going anywhere.

But I understand Jets fans wanting a great young D. Why wouldn't they?

I do find it funny how the Flyers #11 pick is viewed as "just a 1st". It's 3 picks higher than we grabbed Farabee. It will be interesting to see what teh actual return ends up being.

Well when u put together a reasonable offer and its called trash I think u would be a little snarky as well but ty for the comment its not trash.

Kyle Clague is a top pairing defenseman who la refused to include in any package for W Nylander from Toronto He played on the top pairing of the under 20 team Canada last two years. Here is a prospects report Kale Clague I see him as at worse a 2nd pairing defenseman with top pairing upside.

Mike Amadio has played part of the last two season in la. He is stuck behind A. Kopitar and Jeff Carter Also the organization feels Kempe is ahead of him in depth chart. We also have Dolan Anderson . Vilardi and Kupari coming. He has shown he can play in a scoring role if given a chance He really hasn't been given a fair opportunity imo. He scored 50 goals in his last year of the ohl. He was close to a point a game in the ahl 26 points in 28 games on a awful reign team that was in last place. The year before he was 35 points in 32 games. Here is his prospect report Mike Amadio

I think 2 young elc pieces and a first is a very fair offer for a player who is going to most likely bolt for the states. I also would only do it on a condition he will resign as soon as traded. Thank you for being more open minded then ur fellow jet fans.

Why the Rangers do it: Need a top pairing RD. All our RD can really move the puck and have offensive upside but none can defend like Trouba. They have the young assets to make the move and if Larry Brooks bringing Trouba up every time he writes about the Rangers is any indication, the organization likes the idea of Trouba.

Why the Jets do it: They should move on from him (in bold to denote an opinion before the rest of what just took me 5 minutes to think of and type gets thrown out the window). How many times do you stick your hand in the fire to realize it is always going to burn? That is how I feel contract negotiations b/w the Jets and Trouba go every summer. They get a Winnipeg boy who is most likely a 3C not a 2C but plays all 200 ft and in every situation. A defender that projects to be 4th or 5th on the depth chart and can play physical within the new NHL. Also while recouping their first rounder from the Hayes trade. Jets gain 6ish million in $ for Laine, Connor, etc. and have two guys who can be plugged into their opening day roster.

I think that type of offer would be the baseline to start and then Chevy would need to determine if he can get more or just keep him one more year. Not a great offer but not trash either. Ballpark of keep or trade him.

From you description of your prospects it doesn't sound too enticing. A 3C, a bottom pairing defenseman and a late first should be able to be beaten by someone else. I couldn't care less that Howden is from Winnipeg.

Someone on the Wings board posted this:

Edmonton:
Mantha + 6 OA

Detroit:
Trouba + 8 OA

Winnipeg:
RNH
Edmonton gives up RNH and 8OA for Mantha and 6OA?

Is that fair value?

Detroit gets Trouba and 8OA FOR Mantua and 6OA?

Something is not computing here.

Assuming he would sign in Van (which I think is highly doubtful).

2019 1st (10th overall)
Stecher - young top 4 RHD

What else gets it done?

I doubt you’ll see a reply so I’ll give you one haha. Sanheim is set up to have a career year on top of out producing Trouba last year in several categories. Trouba certainly has the edge defensively, but value wise there is some real lack of knowledge for Sanheim.
