Value of: Trouba

They will be massively disappointed. 2C and a top 4 RD and a 1st? Combo or not those are highly valuable pieces that many would want. And you wouldn’t really trade a young top 4D to get a young top 4 D. Likely you need both.

Gudas + 2020 1st lotto protected + B prospect
No way u get Trouba for Gudas, and protected lottery pick and a b prospect. Thats a lowball offer, that talk would start with Sanheim and go from there

Tatar was terrible in Vegas and yes it was a cap dump of sorts. But he was/is a decent forward (maybe "good" was too strong a word or maybe should have called him a good 2nd/3rd liner?). And Trouba is more valuable than Pacioretty. So a high end prospect, a replacement player (so Jets could seek a 2nd pairing D), and a 2nd round pick should be a starting point.

I wasn’t trying to pick apart Tatar - Vegas obviously liked him enough to pay a steep price to acquire him at the 2018 deadline before he flopped for them - just saying he held negative value in the Paccioretty deal.

As for the acceptable package, doesn’t this contradict what Jets fans were saying in other threads regarding a potential cap crunch? Oil fans wanted to pitch 8th OA+ for Ehlers and it was always met with “how does this help us now, we’re a contender.”

In that case, the 3 way with DET makes sense to me, and maybe you squeeze them for a 2nd rd pick to even it up. Or Mike Green @50% retention.

Different situations. Trouba (likely) has to be traded so they have to get the best possible deal. Ehlers is a 22 years old and signed long term to a cap friendly deal. Trading him is an unnecessary step backwards.

You would probably need to upgrade Gudas to have a chance. Young #1 RHD aren't cheap.

Most fans of other teams mistakenly think they'll get Trouba for less than what they would pay for him as a pure rental. That won't happen.

Karlsson went for a late 1st, 2nd and a few decent roster players. Muzzin went for a late first, a 2nd and a few prospects. EK has a lot more value than Trouba and Muzzin is pretty similar, maybe Trouba is a bit more valuable.

I’d upgrade it if it was a sign and trade.

Nobody said Jets fans expect 2C + top 4 RD + a 1st. We are looking for those things in one way or another. It could be done with prospects. A prospective 2C or top 4 RD has a lot less value than proven ones.

It’s tough to figure that out. The flyers have plenty of prospects that they could trade. Im sure they’d add a first from next year as well. And then a roster player like gudas or Hagg.

Not really. As of now Trouba is a rental that is interested in UFA. He wants to leave his team. It’s rumored Canada is out as an option.

Sanhiem could very well be more valuable next year. It’s possible he could sign long term to sub 5 mill contract and could put up big numbers. You wouldn’t trade Sanheim straight up for a signed Trouba so the convo does not start there. That would be better value than Karlsson.

1st and Gudas from Flyers.
Gudas under decent contract and 11 overall pick is a good value.

I expect the Jets will go the cbj+Panarin route unless they crater next season.

The assumption among Jets fans is that he will be traded to one of the places he is willing to sign long term with. That team will be allowed to negotiate before the trade and Trouba will be valued accordingly.

If that doesn't happen and all we get is rental value then he is worth as much to us as a rental as he is to anyone else - so we keep him. If we are not looking like legit contenders at the TD maybe he is moved then.

Jets would be willing to make some concessions to get a deal done. Taking back futures is the obvious one. Not ideal, but acceptable if the value is there. Packaging Trouba with other assets is another possibility. But again, only if the value is there.

Karlsson is a bad example. He was traded by one of the worst GM's in the league and is falling apart.

It would definitely be a trade with an extension agreed upon, so you would add. Trying to compare Sanheim to Trouba is pointless. Trouba would get paid more, because he is the much better player.

No close. No thanks. As mentioned earlier there would need to be a pretty nice add to Gudas.
Not close? Gudas plus 1st for a guy that does not want to stay and wants about 8M(if not more) a year undeserved contract?

Yea I think you’ll get a lot for him just not as much as some people think. Pick the right prospects and hit on the picks and it’ll be a great deal.

EK is one of the best dmen to ever be traded. So I’m pretty sure the value is at least the same and really it’s not, they got more for EK than Trouba. The biggest piece was a late first for EK.

And that’s why I said value, not who is a better player. Kane is a better player than Hughes, but Hughes has more value. And talking in terms trade, that’s what matters. This is not a head to head matchup.

Someone on the Wings board posted this:

Edmonton:
Mantha +6th

Detroit:
Trouba + 8 OA

Winnipeg:
RNH
No chance we trade RNH for Mantha and moving up 2 spots in the draft. Detroit is making out like bandits IMO.

Revised trade

Edmonton:
Mantha + Ehlers+ Lowry

Detroit:
Trouba + 8 OA + Sekera

Winnipeg:
RNH+6OA+Bear

I agree with a good part of your post. It will all depend on the players/picks/prospects involved. Most Jets' fans are in consensus that it would likely be a 1st, a roster player and a prospect or some combination thereof. Now if the first was exceptionally high or the prospect or roster player exceptionally good, one or more of the other parts might drop out.

It's really hard to peg an exact value, when team needs alsoneed to be taken into account.

That would be an easy yes from Edmonton and Detroit and a very easy no from Winnipeg. Way too much coming from Winnipeg.

WPG has a lot more questions than answers after this year imo. I did pick STL in 6 though, one of the few series I got right this year.
That RD could be nearly gutted if they can't land a top 4 RD of lesser value or prospect that is NHL ready in a Trouba trade.
Buff is getting long in the tooth and it seems Myers is gone for sure.

Add in Helly with his inconsistent play and some of their young stars (Ehlers and Laine) needing bounce back years while STL, COL and DAL all look to be trending upward. Chevy will have his hands full for sure and the Trouba situation will be key whether he uses him as the pure rental or recoups some picks/prospects to stock the stable.

I think that’s fair. It’s too bad gudas doesn’t have more term. If he was on a 4 year cheap deal it would be pretty close to good value if you add a first and a prospect. Assuming the jets like him of course.

Not sure if you guys know but the flyers has a few prospects that may or may not be hesitant signing deals given the depth the flyers have in prospects and with the team. They would likely not be as easily made available. The jets don’t have a lot of spots either so not sure if it changes much but something to consider. A similar thing happened to Marody and he’s doing very well.
