I don’t know about MacKinnon…Colorado feels bad about Barron and Newhook so they're offering MacKinnon.
His cap hit is heavy and he will be paid more then Suzuki

Because his cap hit is $8.7m and the Habs only have $7.5m free. Why would Habs need a 3rd party in a trade for Crosby
It 100% is but at least he gives a 1 to 2 week timeline so we won’t have to wait until the trade deadline to call him out on it lmfaooIt's Eklund so probably BS anyway.
Eck is crap disturberIt 100% is but at least he gives a 1 to 2 week timeline so we won’t have to wait until the trade deadline to call him out on it lmfaoo
I think we can be both buyers and sellers. Dvorak and Savard are easy to trade away. The names I mentioned won't take much to get, and it would be nice to support the players.Rental? why , we are not buying . We should be selling or trade for a long term player established.
No need for side moves to rush things tup.
No click bait, it’s happening !!
Anyone Sharing Eklund rumor with such a comment should be assumed to be sarcasticI can't tell if you're being sarcastic or mean it. If you mean it, what do you know that makes you think so?
He has a name: The Montreal Canadiens.Funny
Eck never has names....in his rumors
YupHe has a name: The Montreal Canadiens.
Nah, it's the Roy trade they finally feel bad for..Colorado feels bad about Barron and Newhook so they're offering MacKinnon.
That would make us big fat buyers yep.Tomorrow it will be Mikko Rantanen to Habs E4. lol
We will be buyers if we get a player added to the core a tlong terms which i think only happen at draft floor or july 1stI think we can be both buyers and sellers. Dvorak and Savard are easy to trade away. The names I mentioned won't take much to get, and it would be nice to support the players.
Why would avs trade him if they are going for itThat would make us big fat buyers yep.
Cuz Eklund said so... None of us are actually serious. Why would avs trade him if they are going for it
Matt Beniers is... a bit of a disappointment maybe ?
Probably not this offseason, but still this point next year if hes going to be pacing for 40ish points you can bet his name will be in rumours.
The Habs centers are all right-handed (Suzuki, Dach, Evans) except for Dvorak. Beck, Kapanen & Hage are all righties also (I don't consider Newhook a viable C & Florian X is a long shot at 4C).
(probably because of his player experience) MSL doesn't care about analytics and values very much winning face-offs. we often see Dvo on the OT just for that.
Assuming they don't keep Dvorak (!) it means HuGo has a clear mandate from their coach e.g. find a L-handed C strong on Face-offs and able to defend, a reliable vet preferably.
There's not that many good targets for that. I don't believe HuGo will move 2-3 current players in a block-buster trade (team is starting to gel) e.g. no EP.
I think it would make sense to take a "step back" and grab someone like Ryan O'Reilly (33) to be the Habs 2/3 C during the next 3 years, as a stopgap until either Dach or Hage are ready. Maybe cost is Newhook or Evans + some future assets (late 1st or decent prospect). The goal is not to rebuild a U25 team but to rebuild a winning team.
This weakness at C really didn't help Slaf's development, when Monahan got injured his play was affected and again this year when he's not with Suzuki not much is happening. Demidov will need a good top 6 C next year to help him, not an on-going project.
It doesn't have to be O'Reilly / this price but I'm not sure who else fits the bill. It's just I think the Habs will need a new L center next year that is better then Dvorak and potentially better then Dach in order to play with Demidov. And hopefully they don't bet the season on a current asset becoming a good 2C next year e.g. either through trade or UFA they have to find a good leftie C and there's not that many.
It just depends where Montreal is interested in going. Unless management has total faith in Reinbacher or in Ghule playing on the right side, Montreal needs a RHD.
Nemec is on the side of the longer rebuild and Andersson is almost too old and represents the sped up rebuild. If there was somehow a player in between that becomes available then Montreal should throw everything and the kitchen sink. Reinbacher and Hage should be on the table for that.
It is not so easy as there are not so many options there who would be suitable candidates. Left handed center who can win some faceoffs, he is 26 and younger and already proven in NHL that he can be 2nd or 3rd line center. If I filter out players with more than 400 faceoffs who are 26 and younger, it gives me just 27 names in whole league. Few of them are righties and few of them are untouchables, so the realistic names would be guys like Lundell, Beniers, Sillinger, Frost, McLeod, Hayton or Pinto. If they are looking to add a LH C, it's going to be a guy younger than ROR or they are just admitting everything they have said so far is BS.
If they want a LH C, they will get one for the mid/long term.
