A dream scenario would be dealing Fiala, Moore and #1 2025 for Barzal. He recently returned and looking good. Or Brady Tkachuk. Maybe you have to retain Moore 50%. And you're probably adding even more, like a Ziemmer or more picks.
The Kings have missed out on premium players, like Eichel and Matthew Tkachuk, that were dealt.
They went 1B level, with Fiala and PLD. You can call PLD 1C level, but the Kings didn't see him that way.
Of course, he now has 30+ pts and 25 assists and doing ok....but he'll never have the Kings compete,
that they will always champion.
I'm not loving to give out #1 picks, but you do, for a Barzal or Tkachuk. Hate Brady or not, whatever.
I'd prefer Barzal. I'd even deal Fiala for Norris, if they add something. Kevin just cannot push his skills
to the threshold of making something happen you think he should attain. It's like he has the ability to out skate, out maneuver just about anyone...and sometimes make a great pass, or get a great shot off....but not as much as he should. Most players that skill level, do the next task successfully - score, create a high chance...whereas he does not.
It's like he needs his personal coach from Switzerland (or wherever he is) to come over and work with him.
That's so bizarre. I don't think he ever attains 70 pts again. It's not what the Kings thought they were getting.
He still has value.
I like the idea of going homerun: Barzal, Tage Thompson, Tkachuk, over a Zucker, Giroux, even Bryan Rust.
Top players get traded. If the Kings fall out of the playoffs, they should ask Doughty, Kopi, if they would want to go to a team to try for another Cup...and certianly get a haul for Gavi. I love Gavi and he's been nails...but if he's not signing, you gotta deal him.
Speaking of Barzal...I would consider Lee or Brock Nelson, over many other names out there. Still playing at a high level and can actually make a difference. All that said, I'm not dealing Greentree, Clarke, but would consider other prospects for the top level players. You can't say you're not dealing Ziemmer, George, Slukynsky for a Barzal. Both George and Slukynsky will never both be #1 anyway. ideally, you keep both, ala Jonathan Quick, Jonsthan Bernier and 1 wins out.
