Mathews isnt going anywhere and will sign a extension here. Book it.

He isnt going to waive ....like Nylander. They will be here for awhile. They love Toronto.

We heard fans scream that our GM is listening to 34 and 88 about direction and coach and then same fans want to trade them. Too funny.

If the coach did listen to them , then why would he trade them?

Typical fans trying to get rid of our elite players. I hope they retire here.

We just signed a 30 yr old player to a 8 yr contract. We are not rebuilding here. We changed directions in systems etc and are just retooling because Tre and Berube set us back years with their bogus DNA change crap that the mediots and fans ate up.

We are going to draft McKenna, Rielly may be traded (which is good) , We will get players back healthy.

This will be a playoff team again. :)

Hoping for something like this today.

Reilly + 60th for 27th

Carlo(+) for McLeod/Krebs/Norris + Tuch rights

Defense afterwards would still need work, can use the Col 1st or other assets to hopefully address that, try to get maybe Zellweger or Spence. Would be great if Bylel or Villeneuve dropped to 27th, or we try to trade up again to grab one of them.

I don't know about selling him, because I don't think we'd get a lot for him. But I do think its wishful thinking believing he can go back to his 2024-2025 level of play.

According to sources close to negotiations, today’s talks have left things “status quo” between the two parties and as of now it is “very likely” that Tuch will test the waters next week.

Several teams are believed to have their sights set on Tuch if he hits the open market, including the Seattle Kraken, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks.

Tuch is expected to command around $10.5 million and $11 million per season on his next deal.

In 79 games with the Sabres this past season, Tuch registered 33 goals and 33 assists for 66 points.

I think he goes to the highest bidder and they'll be a ton of teams that will offer him north of 10m/per

Rielly has been legit one of the better #1 dmen in the playoffs this decade.

With him declining, Im on board as anyone in moving off for the right deal but the reason why we "sucked" in the playoffs had very little to do with Rielly.

Matthews may love Toronto but does Toronto love him? Getting the bitter taste out of the mouths of same Canadian hockey fans and media after the Hughes goal is going to take some time.

Weirdly he has a SV% just over .900 for his career and was only over .920 once in the playoffs (with CBJ). That team in Florida was just really good and had the puck all the time.

Chi could still be an option, but, now it would be 2 high end pieces like Rinzel and Frondell/Nazar

SJ maybe, with pick #9, but, then what can they add, they need D, and wont (shouldnt) give up Misa or Will Smith
Isles could be a dark horse, #13, Pelech, and Ritchie/Aitcheson OR Barzal and figure out the rest?

Buffalo was said to have made a big offer at the TDL for Knies. If you believe the rumors 6 assets. Now two of the assets have moved on in Rosen and their 2026 first as well as the most obvious Dman for them to move in a deal with Toronto (Byram) but them getting the 4th overall puts them back into the range of assets Toronto wants. Something like 4OV,20OV, Mrtka, McLeod/Helenius, Kulich. Obviously some of these pieces might be a no chance from either side but there is still the pieces in Buffalo to make a huge deal.
I also think Dallas is out there looking at Knies and would make a strong offer.

Dreger the great Speculator... I want people on Twitter and youtube and everywhere to please call him out. I sat next to an NHL scout once who said he hated him and what he's doing for the media here... I can see now why he said that 15 years ago... He makes stuff up half the time

What about...

Stolarz to Devils for a pick or two (could be next year, nothing big)

Bobrovsky for Ersson (as rumoured)

Florida trades for Markstrom (rumoured they wanted Bob for 2 years around this cap hit)

even if we assume new coming in is Tuch and Bob at approx 16 million in cap space the Leafs would be left with 6.5 mil in space with Domi on LTIR. They are not that tight against it. I still see the Leafs not offer a QO to Macelli and Roberston but I said that months ago. Neither is worth the cap hit they would be at.

Rielly to SJ for 27th OA
2nd for Zellweger
Carlo for multiple mid round picks
Knies, 27 OA for Werenski, Jenner sign and trade + Olivier
Tuch sign and trade
Robertson and/or Maccelli rights traded

I'm fine with activity but not sure it makes sense to shop a guy like McCabe if you want to improve in the standings. You won't find that kind of defenseman available for his cap hit for cheap either.
