I'mm all for going for it but if we are moving a 1st i'd hope for a better player

I think Foligno would be great for the team on the ice but how much he has in the tank is what I am not sure of. He'd be a nice add and with retention a late first in a poor draft might not be asking too much.

I don't see what 2021 foligno brings to the leafs. The youngsters are more poised and mature and with the spezza, Thornton, muzzin, Simmonds as the ones who've atleast been to a cup final, we dont need more "leadership ". I want another hyman type. Physical and relentless on the puck. An extra dman incase of injury and I'm good.

Is picking Mete up off waivers a no brainer? Marincin is currently on our 23 man roster, and he only makes $35K less than Mete. Mete >>> Marincin, and even if we don't plan on using Mete, he at least gives us a legitimate NHL defenceman to step in if we get an injury.

What's the downside? Unless we're trading for a legitimate upgrade over Dermott and planning to push him off the gameday roster.

Mete is a small, soft and garbage defensively (mainly due to his lack of size). All he really has is speed. And that's it

The bidding war for Foligno is turning out to be ridiculous. I wouldn’t be surprised if the leafs don’t do anything after all and Dubas comes out saying well we tried and it didn’t make any sense.

While I really enjoy the TD, Owen Nolan to the Leafs was the last time I got really excited by it.

Most often it’s not as impactful as people think.

The hyped up media aspect of it helped push me to the point of no care.

If Marincin is on the 23 man it was probably a cap move. They needed to get as close as possible to the cap before Freddie went on LTIR. And they don’t have to worry about losing him on waivers when he goes back down.

The first is obviously on the table, I think Dubas is trying to package it for a more substantial gain than just Foligno but knows thats a good back up pick up if his first plan doesn't come to fruition.

Hence why no trigger has been pulled yet, he's working on something big i beleaf.

But that's just how my mind is seeing it, who really knows eh?

Cool, but when his offense drops to zero playing 13-14 minutes instead of 18-20 will you still be okay with the price we gave up?

If you just want a guy that hits a lot then maybe we should grab a guy like Nordsteom or Ritchie from Calgary and give up like a 7th instead of a 1st.

You can never have enough grit and leadership. We have a team full of young superstars. Nick Foligno is a warrior. He would do wonders for this team

The team is full of vets as is, somewhere along the line these old guys that lack speed become a liability

To be fair, a late first has similar value to a 2nd.

But that would be underwhelming for sure.
