Get rid of Savard, Dvorak, and Anderson (if you can). Keep Evans and Matheson unless you get offered something crazy.

If the Habs win their next games before the deadline, then get an experienced 2C right now for the playoffs push. If the Habs don't, wait until summer to get a 2C in free agency.

I’m a big fan of Anderson, but boy do I hate his contract.

1. Enquire on Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh are out. He may not want to leave but... enquire)
2. Field offers for Matheson, Dvorak and Savard
3. Look for long term help on RD and 2nd line centers
4. Be open to moving prospects like Roy & Mailloux. I'd love to develop them but it may not happen here.
5. Do not force things. Only make deals that make sense. Think long term - no rentals that can't be extended.

Agreed except that Matheson is not going anywhere.

Evans is an interesting case. If you're sure you're not re-signing him, then you've got to move him. Can't just let him go for nothing. It would suck, but we have to think longterm.

We’re not in our window nor are we close to be.

You sell every UFA. Or at least Evans and Armia.
Being this close is just more ammo for Hughes to not settle for less this far out from the deadline. Of course best case is trading those two for 1sts and using the assets on a guy like ROR which addresses a need either way.

It'd be tough looking Suzuki and CC in they eye after trading away Evans. But I think you have to do it if he won't re-sign for something reasonable. You can't just let him walk.

If trading a guy like Evans puts your team in a meltdown you just know they’re not there yet.

Evans shouldn’t be *that* important.

That's not the point though. Suzuki wants to be in the playoffs. If you're a seller while competing for that last spot... They aren't going to be happy.

But that doesn't mean you don't do it.

I don’t think management are that emotional. If your UFAs aren’t part of your window or will be gone after the season, you trade them. Oh well the players will be sad.

Trade Suzuki’s ass too if he isn’t happy. Kidding 😂

Top 3 prospect pool and lots of picks in the next drafts already. If anything, i'm looking for a hockey trade and not straight up selling.

Exemple of my dream scenario 3 way trade :

Team A (contender) : J.Evans Y.Armia J.Mahura

Team B (Seattle Kraken) : PickS and ProspectS from both Habs and Team A

Team C (Habs) : M.Beniers

With that said, i'mma go back to sleep where these things can actually happen. Evans and Armia for a first or i'm not interested. I'm team re-sign Evans on top of that.

Hughes is in a tough spot.

The team is winning and close to a playoff spot, and they probably deserve to have a shot at trying to make it… certainly Molson, the team themselves and many fans would prefer they made it to the big dance.

But, if we’re being realistic here, ultimately what helps the team more in the short and long term, playoffs now, or dealing your soon to be UFAs to acquire some assets?

The Habs are nowhere close to being a cup contender, so I’d see what the market looked like.

Trading: Jake Evans doesn’t have a deal in place, and he’s an upcoming UFA looking to cash in on what has been an outlier season. He’s been terrific defensively, in the dot and killing penalties. He has scored some timely goals as well, and has great speed. If you package him with Armia, who also has great size, is good defensively and a terrific penalty killer, what can you get? If it’s a first rounder, I say you have to pull the trigger. We know that several teams are rumoured to be circling on Evans - Leafs, Devils, Kings and Capitals, have all been linked to Evans.

Which one wants him the most? And what can be squeezed out of that team? Could the Habs somehow land a young right hand shot defender if more pieces were added?

Savard I think you keep, unless someone offers a third or more.

Not much left after those players that’s available for a trade.

I understand the odds are not very good , but if we get rid of all our UFAs...it's like throwing in the towel with trying to make the playoffs.

What message are you sending to players like Suzuki, Cole, Hutson , etc....

I think at this point... the drafts don't matter as much to me anymore.

you have to try to get your hands on a second center as soon as possible.

On Futa show yesterday they said teams been scouting Savard been coming away unimpressed. They all say he's lost a step this year. Terribly slow. Doubt he's moving

is not a problem... If the idea was to get a third round pick for him, I'd rather keep him on the roster. they say he's a good influence on the youngsters.

That's how I see it too. I think some underestimate the impact this could have in the room of not throwing them a bone.

Selling hopefully Evans and Armia. If a team doesn't want/can't take both and Armia isn't getting a 2nd, keep him and see if he wants to lower his ask potentially.

Evans I'd probably trade as he isn't going to take less when he's having his best season, or close to it AND the cap is going up a sizeable amount.

Here, hes getting 3 max probably. Open market he could get 4, maybe a little more.

Dvorak isn't worth anything and he's passable for now, so hang onto him and let him go.

Savard probably isn't getting a 2nd, so keep him.

Evans is an important part of this Habs team as it stands right now. If all we can get for him is a late-2nd, I think trading him would do more damage to the team (a lot of players who have busted their asses want to keep on pushing this season) than it would benefit them. We have a ton of draft picks and punting for a late-2nd would be a hard sell to the current group that have delivered on the ice this season and played to their maximum. Many of them are banged up.

Just consider Evans a late-season rental that we didn't have to trade any assets for.
