It would be cool in a nostalgic kind of way to get Foligno and Domi, but the cost would have to be palatable.

Trade Deadline = one of my least favourite time of the year for NHL. The soap opera tinge of the sport comes full front, I prefer watching the games.

That said I have no problem with trades and understand the injected plastic titillation of it though hoping for a trade just for the thrill of it is something I'm way over.
Yet you’re here and commenting...

I mean, did the 2020 series really make that much of an impression on our management? The series was basically a coin flip.

Somehow:
Foligno + Grigorenko/Del Zotto/Carlsson

I wonder if they take on the Dubinsky LTIR contract to help save Columbus money but save Leafs assets given up??

Columbus is a smaller market team, that might make sense.

If it’s a multi player deal, It would likely be;

Del Zotto, Korpisalo, Gavrikov, Carlsson among potential additions to Foligno

I would feel better about adding a Foligno if we were subtracting a Thornton.

Thornton would be substracted by getting benched. Assuming no Roster players get traded for foligno....my guess is Thornton comes out of the Lineup for Foligno.

I still think Foligno going to the Caps or Wild

In before they get Lehtonen back!

If it wasn’t for Andersen being the second best goalie on the ice (again) and the team shooting at a 1.97% clip at 5v5, the Leafs win that series ffs.

Probably don’t blow the lead in Game 3 if our best shutdown defenseman isn’t injured on a chicken-shit play from one of the more sneaky dirty players in the league.

I like Foligno as an add.

I am totally fine with giving up our first rounder.

I am not sure how I feel about those sentences being connected lol

A first for Foligno @50% would be my highest bid before I tap out. There's no other rental I'd put the first on the table for, but I would several 1.5 year players like Hertl, Ekholm or Forsberg.

This is a lazy, disingenuous argument. Foligno plays all 5 positions and net for his team?
What’s lazy is pumping the tires about Foligno’s playoff worth... even though there’s nothing to indicate as such.

Merzlikins is the CBJ player that would make the most sense for TOR, but a pipe-dream. Expansion draft exempt 26 year old goalie would have a big asking price, but could be worth it to bolster the position long-term. Significant cap would have to go the other way (Andersen).

Foligno would be a great add, depending on the price. His personality and play style would mesh perfectly with the top 6. A 1st would be very disappointing.

Like man I dunno. When push came to shove last year in the bubble the team couldn’t score to save their lives and were shutout twice in 5 games. We had like three 5 on 5 goals scored all series. Is Foligno supposed to grit pucks into the net when our offence is getting stymied? Is he going to give more “rah rah” energy from the bench that Thornton, Simmonds, Muzzin, Bogosian, and Spezza can’t? Or are we going to throw him out there to protect a lead, even though we just acquired a similar level player who does nothing but play heavy defensive minutes?

If this is the route Dubas takes fine. I just hope it pays off and we aren’t knocked out in round 1 or 2 because we couldn’t put the puck passed Price or Hellebuyck.
