I think Dubas and Pridhan are too smart to get sucked into a bidding war.

I think they shock is with something we don’t even see coming. That Nash move was so smart and no one saw it coming.

think more of the same.....

What’s lazy is pumping the tires about Foligno’s playoff worth... even though there’s nothing to indicate as such.

Not necessarily. His style of play is something we don’t have in abundance, and it lends itself to playoff hockey. Using the fact that he, himself, hasn’t carried his team on his back, on long playoff runs is silly. We don’t need him to carry anything. We have the horses up front. We need to be harder to play against

Merzlikins is the CBJ player that would make the most sense for TOR, but a pipe-dream. Expansion draft exempt 26 year old goalie would have a big asking price, but could be worth it to bolster the position long-term. Significant cap would have to go the other way (Andersen).

Foligno would be a great add, depending on the price. His personality and play style would mesh perfectly with the top 6. A 1st would be very disappointing.

Foligno and Merzlinkins, maybe even throw in MDZ would complete my shopping list. Just need to ship Andersen out.

Yet you’re here and commenting...

So what. What are you trying to sound so smug about? Does not getting excited about TDL mean I shouldn't keep up on league transactions? Just because it's one of my least favourite times mean I'm not interested whatsoever? Please clarify your point and don't just Huffa and Zuffa about it.

Dreger has been finished as an insider for years

You ever have anything nice to say to anyone?

I'll be really sad if it's Nick Foligno. Just not a very good fit for what we do. Just doesn't have the offensive skill to play with our top 6 and doesn't skate well enough anymore to be a great addition to a third line build around their ability to skate and harass opponents.

He managed to skate well enough to play against us and Tampa last year. Doesn't skate any worse than Tavares, Thornton, Muzzin, Simmonds or Spezza.

Like man I dunno. When push came to shove last year in the bubble the team couldn’t score to save their lives and were shutout twice in 5 games. We had like three 5 on 5 goals scored all series. Is Foligno supposed to grit pucks into the net when our offence is getting stymied? Is he going to give more “rah rah” energy from the bench that Thornton, Simmonds, Muzzin, Bogosian, and Spezza can’t? Or are we going to throw him out there to protect a lead, even though we just acquired a similar level player who does nothing but play heavy defensive minutes?

If this is the route Dubas takes fine. I just hope it pays off and we aren’t knocked out in round 1 or 2 because we couldn’t put the puck passed Price or Hellebuyck.
Sounds like an argument for Hall.

Still more than the leafs lmaooo. Oh and his team beat us last year? You remember that?
I know you didn’t ask me but I drank away the memories of that series along with the Bruins series. I still get the odd acid flashback from the Bruins series though.

Losing to the Jackets last year was so devastating. A team full of supposed superstars...couldn't beat a team like CBJ who wasn;t even that good.

No wonder Dubas decided to take the Approach he did In the off-season. The leafs folded

But doesn't skate better either. We don't need more old, slow guys who don't contribute offensively and take more penalty minutes for minor infractions, in the playoffs, than they produce in points.

2015-2016 Nick Foligno? Sure. 2021 Nick Foligno, especially for talk of a 1st round pick? No thanks. Mayyybbbbeee the 1st round pick if Merzlikins is attached to him in the trade, enabling us to move on from Anderson next year, otherwise, no way.

It's pretty much an Eric Staal type addition at this point, IMO. Just a guy.

By himself the best I'd do is a 2nd round pick and prospect outside the organizations top 10, for Foligno, 50% retained.

Lack of goal scoring at 5v5 didn’t sink them against Boston though. It did against Columbus and if that happens again, Foligno won’t help them there.

I just don't believe Dubas thinks that his ideal target should be a guy who has a bidding war on him due to his grit and leadership. Foligno actually does almost nothing for the Leafs, and there's a guy like Hall available
