The more often you hit, the less often you’d have the puck.

So... yeah?

Leafs have been outhit in every series and 1st rd exit. Make your logic make sense with that hotshot.

Hitting and physicality is a crucial part in the playoffs. Being able to separate Defenders from the puck, being able to hold your own in board battles, being physical in front of the opposition net. Also, hitting wears down the opposition players over a 7 game series. Defenders are more prone to turnovers.

Never took all that into account did you?

Being able to hit is fine, but you have to be able to contribute offensively as well. A guy like Hyman does that. Hell, a guy like Mikheyev does that, he has just struggled to finish this year.... But an aging guy, who doesn't skate well, takes too many minor penalties in contrast to what he does offensively, etc, should not be the answer as a deadline acquisition. We have that guy. His name is Wayne Simmonds, whose numbers would probably look near identical (if not better) to Foligno's had he not gotten hurt.

The Leafs actually outhit Boston during the 2019 playoffs and St. Louis was 24th in hits per game during the 2018-19 regular season.

No, because they outhit Boston

I don't really care if we out-hit our opponents, but I do care that we can play any which way but lose. Foligno can definitely provide some versatility to our lineup, should we face a team that wants trench warfare.

I just don't believe Dubas thinks that his ideal target should be a guy who has a bidding war on him due to his grit and leadership. Foligno actually does almost nothing for the Leafs, and there's a guy like Hall available
Why are people down playing the impact Foligno has In a game with his grit, leadership and will.. and compare his latest seasons.. but give Hall a pass who's under achieved in 3 seasons playing with good players next to him.

Halls as much of a question mark as Foligno is..

Say it louder for people in the back

Exactly. Adding grit for grit’s sake is bad. Adding grit that can produce is good.

Adding grit at the cost of a 1st with potentially nothing else being added? Considering Foligno’s age, salary, and the fact the Leafs bottom six is filled with players of this ilk... not amazing.

Hall is a question mark in the sense that you don't know if he can be elite again. Foligno is a question mark in the sense that I don't know if he can make a meaningful impact at all. The Leafs already have Nash if they need a defensive specialist with grit and leadership

Watching Foligno try to play in the top 6 would be hilarious.

Still think the Leafs need a guy who can move up and down the lineup. Foligno is a pure third liner.

That guy is Hyman, if you add a legitimate top 6 winger to slot with Tavares and Nylander. Leave Galch with 34 and 16... Hyman is a top 3 Swiss Army Knife in the league. Let him move up and down. Get me a Hall or an Iafallo and let Hyman roam.

Twitter saying Islanders, Bruins and Oilers are the 3 teams in on Hall

That doesn't surprise me. Dubas is likely looking at a deal that returns multiple assets, one of which will stay with Toronto beyond this year, because it's going to cost a high pick and he doesn't want to use one on a pure rental.

For example, if you can pull one of the goalies out Columbus, along with Foligno, you keep the goalie beyond this year and you have your new platoon with Campbell, while saving money by moving off of Anderson's 5.0m cap hit.

Joonas Korpisalo makes 2.8m in 2022
Elvis Merzlikins makes 4.0m in 2022

Both save Toronto money and would be the only reason I'd trade a 1st for Foligno. They'd had to be attached.
