I talk trash on my own team as much as anyone but yall need to stop acting like the Lyubushkin didn't happen and that Dubas hasn't done anything yet.

Lyubushkin was a player we really needed in the backend. And we need one more upgrade like him.

The man is playing 1st pairing minutes now for gods sakes. I think we should take that into account. Dude is better than Chiarot

Yep. That was a low key pre-Christmas Eve purchase. If anything those player types shouldn't cost you a first.

If they couldn't resign Lindholm, Verbeek did well.

If they win couple of rounds especially beating tampa or florida. Its a win

They have enough time to recover those draft picks
They signed that Mcluighlin

Thats a 2nd round and enough prospects

Bs did wel

Man it’s hard to watch our divisional rivals stack up.

I don’t want a stupid trade to happen either. But it’s clear Boston, Tampa, and Florida just got significantly better. And 2 of them were already clearly better than us

These things don't always work out and I wouldn't be too worried about other peoples depth charts. We always looked pretty beastly after the deadline deals during the Quinn era, and we looked pretty great after the deadline last year, but the chemistry was often not there with those big splashy pieces. Fundamentally, if we could beat these teams before their big adds we can still beat them after.

What does everyone think of a kerfoot + 2nd for soucy + Appleton and dermott for delauries trade ?
I like Deslaurier a lot. He is more skilled than Clifford and hits a ton more than Simmonds so he would be more impactful than either. But Keefe does not seem to value that part of the game much though so can't see him supporting a move at forward like this. The guy they were saying the Leafs were after. Middleton, plays more minutes than Soucy on a better club and he is league minimum salary. I think I would rather have him and keep Kerfoot.

Yep. Swoop in at the last minute. Lots of players in the board. No teams have crazy assets left except who? Carolina? They won’t do 1st for rental either.

I don’t mind not paying massive prices now. Teams won’t hold on to ufa
Carolina dosnt have their first

Interesting. That's not much more than Chiarot returned. Boston is pretty good at giving up relatively small returns for good players.

It's a little bit more than Chiarot brought back. Those 2nd's are worth a fair bit more than Smilanic and a 4th.

Urho is probably the price to dump Moore, who hasn't been good since going to Boston 5 years ago.

I like your optimisim

But that doesnt you take a chance and dont improve your team

3 teams improved significantly. Not just an add ons

We were short stacked against them in goaltending and defense to begin with

sweeney can't draft for shit, but trading and re-signing players to team-friendly deals, he can do

and i'm sure if krejci didn't have to clear waivers, they would somehow bring him back for this playoff run too

You’re right. It’s not the end of the world. But we very clearly need to improve as well. Florida becomes even more of nightmare matchup with Giroux bolstering their forward group.

Smilanic was a 3rd rounder, so we're looking at a 1st+3rd+4th compared to 1+2+2. I think the expectation was that the dichotomy between Lind's and Chiarot's value was going to be a lot more than that.

If Verbeek held onto Lindholm, he would have walked for nothing. How the Bruins do with Lindholm has no impact on the deal from the Ducks' perspective.

I wonder if Kreiji returns from Europe and joins the Bs for the playoffs.

I think Toronto will make a trade, I feel like it will be Mason Appleton and Giordano for Dermott + something

His college scouts are strong. Outside of their backyard NCAA/USHL/HS they piss away picks though.

Toronto needs to answer with Jt Miller + Luke Schenn

Won’t even matter if our goalies are letting in beachballs.

Campbell doesn’t have the mental makeup; literally puts the weight of the world on his shoulders and every goal he lets in he feels like the need to apologize and his confidence goes down the tubes. He’s way too emo to handle the big moments, especially in this market.

Kallgren has looked great but you’d have to be out of your mind to go into the playoffs and put all the pressure of those choke jobs on him.

I don’t think anything needs to be said about that loser Mrazek other than we would be out in 4 straight.

Well he wasnt going to hold on to him. Ovbiousky hes a trade asset

Boston did well considering they lost nobody from their lineup

They kept 3 of their top prospects

IMO we can’t compete with the likes of FLA, TB, Boston, or CAR. Middleton and McBain may be interesting low buy options but no guarantee they even make an impact here. Best to just ride what we have and see how we do. Add Knies to the 2LW and Steeves to 4C and hope that makes a moderate impact.

Lindholm is pretty overrated. He'll do well on that d-core though, since he'll be insulated by McAvoy or Carlo. Don't think he's worth the price that was paid still

For the Leafs, I'd like Gio. He's still a top 4 d-man that is good defensively and he's had terrific chemistry with Brodie in the past. If the cost is a 1st+ though, I'd pass

Got a steady stay at home D-man who plays a simple, physical game. Has logged top 4 mins in Arizona, and is now logging minutes beside Rielly and on the PK...
Seems criminal to even mention that we added Lyubushkin while getting rid of a tire fire contract in Nick Ritchie at the same time. Was a shrewd move by KD, no doubt
