Still not panicked. Sit back and take the best value deal.

I still imagine we see Gio for ~a 2nd, then Dermott moved separately to recoup the pick or grab a depth forward.

And I do that over all of these rivals moves 100 times over.

Yep. Swoop in at the last minute. Lots of players in the board. No teams have crazy assets left except who? Carolina? They won’t do 1st for rental either.

I don’t mind not paying massive prices now. Teams won’t hold on to ufa

How about we do things in a slightly different order?

Sign Matthew Knies and test run him this spring. See if we can sign Jack McBain as a UFA and keep our picks.
The only reservation with that is the chance McBain is traded to somewhere else and ends up liking it and re-signing there.
Wouldn't mind seeing Knies get a shot this year but who is he going to replace?

Most of that return is just the cost to dump Mrazek

It is not going to cost nearly that much to dump Mrazek.

Market doesn't dictate it. In fact, it is far more likely that it costs us nothing (or we get even get a late round pick in return) to move Mrazek than to pay anything more than a 4th based on other market comparables.

Maybe Knies gives us more of a punch on the third line? Or maybe you can play him up with Tavares as an experiment and create a permanent Nylander/Kerfoot duo.

Lol that is wishful thinking. We will need a goalie in the summer as much as any team in the league. Would you give up assets for Mrazek?

I could plausibly see Mrazek going to a rebuilding bottom feeder. If Arizona needs to get to the cap floor and have trouble attracting UFAs, maybe we can work out a soft deal there. Ken Holland has history with Mrazek and never has a good handle on goalies in Edmonton, so you never know. Buffalo is an undesirable market. Don't think San Jose has much pro goaltending depth.

Lyubushkin deal keeps looking better & better.

These Atlantic teams going all in just betters the Leafs chances next postseason, & they already have a great team that can beat them. These costly trades don't guarantee Florida, Tampa, or Boston anything.

Hopefully Dubas can find the right deal(s) that make sense, but standing pat is completely fine.

Leafs give up Lilijgren who is flourishing and then our best prospect whose raised his value a mid 1st

On top of that give up another 2 1sts

Its a lot of value for Miller who has 1 more year and then demko who is the player with term
Man, that's horrible value for Vancouver that would be beat by anyone interested in those 2 players.

Depends on what I think I am getting.

The Mrazek that has been a solid tandem starter for most of his career, or the Mrazek who has struggled this year.

Most teams would bet on the former. He is almost certainly going to bounce back, and if I can get him for cheap or nothing, then I can do a lot worse in net based on most of his career.

It won't cost us a high pick to move him, if we even want to. If it does, we'll keep him and he will likely bounce back next year. Otherwise, we have a Mrazek with only one year remaining and it won't cost us much to move him with only one year left on his deal.

Just get McBain over here and a small add on D if Fleury isn't a realistic option.

Done. Move on.

It's very likely 2 of the 4 Atlantic teams are bounced in the 1st round.
I'm hoping for an add of either Giordano, Middleton, or Schenn on the backend. And I really want to see us do a Dermott for Comtois straight up type deal. Or Dermott & Duszak if that's what helps push it over the line (since he's never gonna see time with us, has offensive defenseman upside, and wants out of town)
I think Comtois with Tavares-Nylander could be a force. And gives Tavares a little more confidence for the physical game come playoff time. I noticed Tavares seemed more engaged the last couple of games when he had a guy like Bunting beside him willing to go to war

I talk trash on my own team as much as anyone but yall need to stop acting like the Lyubushkin didn't happen and that Dubas hasn't done anything yet.

Lyubushkin was a player we really needed in the backend. And we need one more upgrade like him.

The man is playing 1st pairing minutes now for gods sakes. I think we should take that into account. Dude is better than Chiarot

Man it’s hard to watch our divisional rivals stack up.

I don’t want a stupid trade to happen either. But it’s clear Boston, Tampa, and Florida just got significantly better. And 2 of them were already clearly better than us
