If Chicago wanted 2 firsts and Knies for taking Mrazek and sending us Fleury and Hagel maybe they drop a first and Knies now that Hagel is gone.

Chicago can suck on their thumb for all I care. They're not manufacturing a Chychrun type package out of Fleury, whom they got for an AHLer less than 6 months ago.

Well bud theres a cost of doing business

You want to win or you dont. Boston is a team always valued d first. On top of that they are going for it

Go big or go home. Thats why you accumulate prospects. Which they have and which we have

Being gun shy wont get you far. Show your team your serious about winning. But that maybe too late. This was the player we needed more than Bosto

You may want to consider rewinding a year. How can you risk going all in again when you are staring at Tampa, Florida, or Carolina in round #1 ?? Last thing I want is to blow out more picks/prospects and lose in round 1.

Funny thing is that Boston is already the best defensive team in the league...any gains would be pretty marginal.

They need more scoring.
Because they're building to counter the landscape of our division. This division has crazy offensive threats everywhere. Lindholm + McAvoy will be money against all of them.
Sweeney is no dummy, he knows exactly what's needed to get through it.

I'm glad the Leafs are staying out of silly season here. If we can patch some small holes and get a little depth on defense I'm happy to ride out with what we have.

Boston is just blowing their brains out because this is the end of the Bergeron era. Tampa is living in the here and now but come on, Brandon Hagel doesn't put them over the top if they weren't favorites already. Big fan of what Florida has done this season but if there's a cursed franchise it's them.

Hagel is also part of their long term plan. Hes 23 and not a rental who can get you 20 goals
He has a very favorable term for next year

Hes exactly the type of player they like. Jhonson Gourde Goodrow and Coleman what seperatrd them and now they are gone

Draft picks means nothing to them
They found all those players in 4th and 5th rounds and FA

Chychurin will never be sound as Lindholm. Its not like Lindholm is over the hill. Hes only 28
The way he plays he can play another 7 years no problem

If you are going to pay that much, then its Lindholm you want

You pay a king's ransom so you can improve your team for multiple cup runs. Lindholm is a better option for one run, but the Bruins now have to pay up to keep ol' Hampus.

Cup winners don't tend to make huge moves at the deadline, they usually just add depth. Hagel is a nice piece for Tampa's cap crunch but they literally can't make this kind of move again next year because they have no picks to do it with unless they sell off core pieces in the off-season.

Miller is the only player on the market that might make a difference for us one way or the other, I don't see a huge difference between picking up a Middleton for some mid-round picks vs spending a 1st++ for a Chiarot rental and handcuffing ourselves next deadline.
Tampa still has there 1st this year. So that can be moved at the draft for another peice to help with the cap crunch or with how Tampa drafts they draft a player they use at next deadline because he has a strong D+1 year

Tampa has won back to back moves making in season big moves

Coleman + goodrow for what people thought was an overpay

Savard last year for a 1st was bad at fave value but he played his role and gave them good enough play to help the defense

Hagel has 3 years term and is a 40 point coleman replacement on a great deal

Tampa probably moves there 2022 1st prospect/2024 2nd next offseason/Colton Ross for there next upgrade. 2 cups in the pocket si any move they make now won't hurt them at all since they got back to back cups

I agree we should make a big move

Knies/lilijgren/2 1sts/Mrazek for Miller + Demko

Just get McBain over here and a small add on D if Fleury isn't a realistic option.

Done. Move on.

It's very likely 2 of the 4 Atlantic teams are bounced in the 1st round.

We don't have to be greedy with this player type. We already got our Brandon Hagel, his name is Michael Bunting and he's cheaper. And the cherry on top is he cost us sweet f all to acquire.

.......why the hell would Vancouver do that?

I never said we had to get Hagel. I was sharing Tampas view point

They clearly value those types of players.

We will need Gio especially if Muzzin isn't back to form. With Dubas's job on the line, he can't stand pat. Obviously should be reasonable so just wait it out

Is Muzzin going to be back for the playoffs or will he not?

If he is not back for the playoffs, then sure. He can replace Muzzin. If he is not replacing Muzzin though, he doesn't fit. I highly doubt the Leafs are sitting both Liljegren and Sandin in the playoffs, and it looks like that is what is going to happen.

If Toronto wants to go big game hunting, which it seems like they are willing do with the rumor package of Hagel and MAF, it has to be for a top 4 d-man and more specifically Chyrchrun.

Giroux to FLA.

f***. i was hoping he'd go to the Avs.

All 3 Atlantic division teams around us got better. we're f***ed.
This isn't the NBA where if the other team makes additions, the other team has no chance now.
If this is the case, than we may as well forfiet the season now.
