It only makes sense that a banner raising for winning games would be better than one for losing them...

Its been a while in Leaf land, hasn't it?

What did you guys do at the end of last season? Did you take down the October banner or just leave it up? I imagine it was kinda awkward when the pens won the cup...

At least we get excited when our team starts winning, not during the off-season like you leaf fans are known for.

Leafs will definitely pass on this one.

What about emelin and a third for bozak. Frees up some room for the kids to play and provides desperately needed help for reily and gardner. I know emelin is thirty but so is bozak . Toronto will ruin those good young d if they get no help for them. Salary and term are equal.

I think Montreal needs to add because Toronto is obviously empowering one of their biggest rivals in this trade.

I think we see Emelin as a near zero value player for us, Bozak is just a placeholder until we can get a pick for him and free up the spot. The feeling was that Bozak would get around a 2nd rounder at last year's deadline on his own so taking back a contract with it would probably up the price a bit, maybe Emelin+2nd+3rd or something

If Emelin is playing well he could be worth something to a contender on an expiring contract though, so if he's flippable for an asset then what you've proposed or Emelin+2nd might make sense

We're looking for another top 4 D... Emelin isn't going anywhere. Looks good with Weber.

Bozak is not a solution.

In order to pick up a top 4 d you would need to make room for one. Unless your keeping markov emelin petry and weber plus your new top 4 guy. Bozak may not be the entire solution but he can be part of it.when the habs want to roll three scoring lines he could be the 3c and when we want two checking lines he could be the 2c and pleks the 3rd line checking center. Bozak has speed and is excellent on faceoffs which is where we need help. When you take into account salaries it also works.

No, it doesn't work. You said so yourself that their salaries are similar. We lose a top 4 D for a Middle 6 C... how do we get a top 4 back then?

A 2nd and a third plus a defenceman for a placeholder. If its only a contract to you make it desharnais, 2nd and third for bozak and a 4th.

Through a trade with another team. I wouldnt fall in love with emelin now. Once he has a few bad games again hell be all over these boards. Come the deadline there will be a dozen teams to find another d and another scoring winger. Bergevin will deal a couple prospects that he knows will not pan out and a couple picks. Similar to the vanek trade a few years ago.

A placeholder for us, he's still a career 50pt centre who's a very good faceoff guy. There's defensive concerns, but moved to RW I think he could be very useful and hide some of the warts, surprised we haven't tried.

Anyway ya which contract we took back probably wouldn't matter, I'd probably do DD+2nd+3rd for Bozak+4th

Bozak isn't a middle 6 C, and I don't mean that in a good way, he's 2nd line or bust. He produces at a good 2nd line clip, but doesn't have the defensive chops to play on a checking line

Whatever he is, it ain't what we're looking for.

I wasnt the one who initially called him a placeholder. He would be our 2c when we play with 2 checking lines and our 2 or 3 c when we go with 3 scoring lines. With the best goalie in the world we have the luxury of employing 3 balanced scoring lines against most teams. Im curious who else could be a top 6 c or top 9 c that we could target that would fit cap wise. Also one that another team may be willing to give up. Here is where ill lose some of you.

What may that be ? ENLIGHTEN ME PLEASE. BE REALISTIC.

If you're trading DD+2nd+3rd and all you're really getting back is Bozak - a player who isn't good in his own zone...

How the **** is that a deal that MB would make? I hope that's realistic enough for you.
