Not meaningless, just less impressive than 5-on-5

Do you watch the 5v5 plays he creates? Highly, highly doubtful, he’s playing with 3rd/4th line plugs that don’t covert what he creates. But go off bro lol. And it’s not like he’s riding someone’s coattails on the PP, the PP runs through him already, he was the straw stirring the drink on the PP within 10 games of his NHL career.

These 2 things don't exactly square up in that Michkov is playing with some decent players on the PP and sometimes ES as well.

Also everyone is getting too touchy on an obvious thing in that Michkov does have more PPP than ESP and sure they all count but ESP are harder to come by and might be more indicative of offensive value than PPP.

Those decent players were the worst PP team in previous seasons, though, weren't they? This season they are 21st. The only difference between seasons is Michkov.

Good point. League-worst PP last year, by almost a full 3%. Converted at a 12.2% rate while the next-worst team was 15.1%.

We're only 20 games in, but they're up to 17.7% so far. Perhaps it's coaching, perhaps regression to the mean, but I'd be hard-pressed to believe that Michkov's vision hasn't made a difference as well.

It's not just vision, his free roaming role sometimes obviously confuses opponents. You can say that role couldn't be implemented without coach's decision, but Michkov played the same way on Sochi's PP as well.

No one is denying the skillset that he brings and some of the other pretty good players are the finishers in Konecny who already has one more PPG than last year when he scored 33 goals in total.

The problem is that any ascension to a top 10 player in the league will require better results at ES.

And that's okay he is a 19 year old rookie right?

Yeah, he's just 19 and he still plays on the 3rd line right now. It's hard to score a lot of ES points on the 3rd line of the team that isn't very good. I hope the Flyers will improve their roster one day so Michkov gets his own scoring line.

If the go-to criticism of a 19 year old rookie is that his glut of point production is somehow cheapened by the way he's scoring, I'd take that as a pretty good sign.
You didn’t hear this nonsense about Bedard last year even though he was an empty calorie stat sheet guy all year

Habs f***ed up royally, there is not debate to be had... totally fumbled the situation. Michkov is a stud and was 1A/1B with Bedard and honestly, the jury is still out if Bedard is really a better player... Michkov very well might prove himself to be better.

You are so wrong like usual as Michkov is 4th in ES MPG among all forwards for the Flyers.

Yeah, first 8 or so games Michkov led the team in TOI, but then his time started to decrease, and then he was benched, and then he mostly played with scrubs. In today's game he playes with Frost and Tippett though which looks like the team's 2nd line. And he scored 5-vs-5 goal. But he didn't score on PP in OT. I'm pretty sure he'd prefer to score in OT because they lost...

Yeah, I’m sure the Flyers have him on the block, better do whatever they can to get what they can for him before the league figures him out 😂😂🤣🤣
