Now that I've got my venting out of the way... Staal played a great game, his defensive game has really come back to him after a rough start to the season. Needs to be a bit better in the offensive zone. His shots on goal have been lol-tastic.

I like all the Tampa fans voting in our poll for Bishop.

Maybe I shouldn't have put him in, but it gets to point where you gotta give it up. That wasn't a sarcastic option.

The refs are a sarcastic option, although they were very valuable to their team's effort tonight.

Lol at blaming the refs. How about score more than one goal? They had a few power plays in the end and failed, simple as that. Tampa also trapped the **** outta the Rangers in the third. Blaming the refs? Gimme a break, typical hf excuse ********. Team lacks finishers

did you even watch the game?

Still it was a good game by the Rangers. They worked hard and opened up a lot of weaknesses in the Lightning.

imho rangers were by far the better team. they SHOULD have drawn at least 6 power plays....including a 5 on 3 when Pouliot gets hauled down behind the net early in our last power play.

ridiculous.

I know you think that you ar being clever, but you are missing the point. A goalie is paid to stop the puck, regardless of the situation. There are times when a goalie has no chance, but this was not one of them. If you can't see that Hank misplayed that badly, start watching basketball.

He did misplay it. But on a clean cut breakaway, you can blame everyone but the goaltender.

Does he want to stop it? Absolutely. Could he have stopped it and bailed out his teammates? Yes. But he didn't.

Whenever there is a clean cut breakaway, whether its a dazzling goal or the one like we saw, the only ones you can blame are the players on the ice for having such a breakdown defensively.

Could he have stopped it? Again, yes. And I'm sure he will be hard on himself for not coming up with a big save there.

such awful...awful reffing.

wasnt even the BS call on Cally...the sheer amount of non calls i saw were ridiculous.

They officiated the game like it was 2003. Thought the NHL wanted to get away from that style of clutching and grabbing. The Rangers probably got away with some things too, but what Tampa got away with was obvious. The strategy was simple, once the refs allowed them to play like that.

That game should be sent to NHL HQ and be played over and over again to show what kind of game the league doesn't want (outside of the Rangers losing.)

You can pinpoint a breakdown on every goal. At he end of the day, your goalie has to make the big stop. Bishop did all night. To be fair, the goal should have been stopped 9 out of 10 times.

i really didnt see much the rangers got away with tbh, but id be fine with tampa fans coming on here and pointing some out.

what tampa got away with was ridiculous. its stuff that would have been called in '03. goalie tripping a player? seriously, no call?

pouliot gets hauled down on the PP, Tampa clears the puck...no call?

Richards gets his stick 2 handed from him, no call, tampa keeps the puck in another 60 seconds?

just awful.

Based on what I'm seeing on NBCSN and on the out-of-town board, this loss is going to prove very costly in the standings for the Rangers.

@AGrossRecord: AV particularly distressed at Lightning second goal, Kucherov's breakaway. Said video was shown in morning on defending that play and the Lightning had tried it three shifts earlier so it was discussed on bench.

“@AGrossRecord: AV says it was mistakes on two simple reads: Forward goes up (believe it was Pouliot) and d-men (JMoore and DZ) allow wide path for Kucherov”

Chris Rooney. That's all you need to know. How he still has a job is beyond me. If I were as incompetent at my job as he is I wouldn't be employed.

I disagree. And no, you can't pinpoint a break down on every goal. What was the breakdown on the Richards goal? The Lightning allowed him to take a shot at a bad angle? What was the breakdown on the Hedman goal? Rangers allowed a hard shot from the point that bounced off Boyle's leg?

Blatant, text book breakdowns, like the one we saw on the 2nd goal, should not be blamed on the goaltender. You want him to come up with a save, but that's all you can do, is hope. Don't expect them to stop one on one uncontested breakaways. And no, breakaways are not stopped 9 out of 10 times.

Bishop also had a lot of puck luck. What did we hit, two, three posts? If one or two of those go in, you're not saying he was great.

We just couldn't finish. Lightning found a way to finish... for 9 seconds. Game, set, match.

Have to think it can't be many more games before AV starts giving D Moore some 3rd period shifts with Nash/Kreider.

At least tonight Stepan actually initiated contact along the wall, at least 2x. You know, one of the things you're supposed to do when other parts of your game aren't going. Wouldn't call those efforts explosive or anything. I even saw Stepan in front of the net on one shift.

I'm not disagreeing with you, in fact, I'm in complete agreement with what you point out.

My point is that there was so much more of the old style pawing and interference that made playing the trap so easy. The refs let Tampa dictate the style of game they were going to call. There should have been at least 5 calls on Tampa before the third period.

And for those who think I'm whining about it, I'm pretty sure there were one or two missed hooks on the Rangers the two or three times Tampa actually looked dangerous.

Stepan has consistently shown the ability to totally disappear for large portions of games. Torts had to light a fire under his ass last yr to get him to respond. The kid glides around like it's a ****en pickup game. How he ever made the Olympic squad is a joke and a travesty considering the snubs.

This team desperately needs a legit #1 center.

Sorry Fatal, I won't debate with you after making such an asinine statement.

Brassard broken stick

Yes I did, is it the refs' fault the Rangers scored one goal? Is it the refs' fault the Rangers failed on two power plays in the third?

Well if the refs' inability to call rules infractions helps Tampa play defense, you could make the argument that it is the refs' fault the Rangers only scored one goal.

It's the refs' fault the Rangers couldn't produce good chances because they allowed Tampa to grab, hold, cling onto, shove, push and generally act like ****ing monkeys on defense.
