Bishop is a *******. Acts like he gets shot when the stick only touched his shoulder and it was his own man's stick. Then Kreider is playing the loose puck and Bishop acts like his hand got chopped and *****es at the ref non stop. Then that trip on Zucc at the end, wtf. I don't think I've ever disliked a goalie so much from one game. I might be biased because I hate this new trend of monster goalies. He makes saves that he has no business making just because he's 6'7. That's what coaches look for now, a goalie who is 511-6'0 is considered undersized, they just want 6'4+ guys that they can teach technique to because the percentage of the puck hitting them is so much higher.

And I hate the blame the refs, but the officiating was atrocious. The amount of picks, interference, holding and overall obstruction by Tampa was infuriating. Just very angering.

While he was injured, Bishop watched a lot of film on Marty Bordeur.

Terrible is an understatement but my first garden experience was amazing!

So much so I'm going to get tickets for the red wings on Thursday. :sarcasm:

Guys I went to the game tonight. Few things that I noticed.

Stepan is slow- I mean Richards from last year slow.

The second goal Tampa scored was a face off play they ran on center ice draws. They literally did the same play on the opening face off of the second period and, had St. Louis caught the pass instead of it hopping over his stick, Tampa may have scored on that play too. The fact that no adjustment was made and the defense was caught out that wide with that gap between them does not reflect well on the Rangers coaching staff( likely Samulsen.) If I noticed it sitting in section 314, I hope they would too!

The Rangers did not have enough net front presence during key points in the game. Bishop played well but a lot of simple saves that he was solid on.

Refs are not to blame for this loss. They really hardly called anything all game. Powerplays were even and they stuck to the obvious penalties.

Again Bishop has given up 3 goals in 5 games against us. Rangers obviously have a problem with him. When a team scores against you and then scores again off the ensuing face-off because your defense--particularly one of them is not paying attention there's a big problem. TB knows we have a big problem scoring against Bishop and knew that if they clamped down their chances were real good. At the point where Kucherov scored we were chasing the game and that's pretty much what happened. Sometimes all it takes is one dumb ass play. We made it and game over. They clogged up the neutral zone more or less neutralizing the Rangers speed and forecheck. There you go.

It was a lame effort all the way around for us and not very easy to watch. Once TB scored that second goal it was like watching the predictable script of a B movie unfold.

just got done watching the game, I thought the Rangers had their chances this game...
-I know they hit three, might have even been 4 goal posts this game.
-They are more creative offensively than they have been the past few years
-Powerplay looks like a serious weapon.
-Lundqvist looked good again this game.

I thought Stepan and Boyle were horrific this game on offense. Stepan seemed to just throw the puck around in the offensive zone, looked like he was on a completely different page than the other players a lot this game.

Boyle has been a good soldier, but his hands and balance are terrible...it's time to move him for a pick. He just doesn't fit the mold of the team any more

Look I've said it since his rookie year he's not a 1C, you can only get by on IQ for so long. Truth is he's a lousy skater, has a lousy shot, and is weak. Just stare at him and he'll give up his lunch money.

I don't even know if I would give him high IQ. The agree with everything else though.

I agree. Not sure why many people say he has a great IQ. Not this year thats for sure. I think he got very lazy after last season. He held out all preseason and obviously didnt keep in hockey shape. He hasnt had 1 great game yet which is crazy considering he was out 2nd best forward last year

Yeah, I think a lot of the anger tonight stems from frustration. Just one of those games.

Only issues I have with tonights game is the team looked absolutely dead. Tampa was playing very slow as well though. I almost felt like I was watching a game of shinny.

Considering all of that it wasn't a terrible game by the Rangers just a dumb mistake gave the game away. Oh and I am really starting to dislike Stepan. Like someone else said earlier, how the hell did this guy get picked by USA for the olympics. He just doesn't have it imo.

I find it very hard to believe a player who has shown so much commitment to improving himself on both ends of the rink every year suddenly got lazy. I think we're seeing the Stepan equivalent of what everyone was hating Nash for not more than a month ago, or Callahan. Did cally just get lazy and recently decided to himself, ya know this whole being lazy thing just isn't for me? As soon as step commits to being a player on his line and not a periphery set up guy, he will turn it around, I garauntee it. And not a single good game? The guy's had a hat trick this year?

I'm not saying he's playing well, but I feel you're overdoing it.

I can't believe how frustrating this team is. This is IMO the most offensively creative team since the Nylander line was together. The Rangers get a lot of shots on net and a lot of great opportunities. This isn't a team (usually) taking 35 point shots. They pass and set up great chances. Yet all season they've been stonewalled by goalies. When will the madness end? Are they just THAT bad finishers or are getting bad luck? They've been consistently outplaying teams all season outside of the first few games and the long home stretch in December (at least the start of it). Yet I bet they've won half the games they've outplayed their opposition. It's just ridiculous. I'd watch the 11-12 team stumble and bumble their way to 5 games winning streaks every week it seemed. This team actually creates chances and can't score for ****.

If Tampa even makes the playoffs.. and say they meet the caps... holy **** ovi is gonna cluster *** that defense and easily snipe five hole allllll day on that one hit wonder bishop

For the people here calling Ben Bishop a "one hit wonder" you must not pay attention to anything other than the Rangers. Bishop has been developing nicely the last couple of years. He was being blocked off in Ottawa from getting a regular chance. TBL traded Conacher last year, who was having a very good year for them, because they saw the potential in Bishop. He is a good goaltender. He will continue to have a solid year and career. Some of you should really watch more hockey before you determine who is what in this league.

Bishop was good tonight. Rangers still shouldnt have lost.

So is STEPAN the new whipping boy? Is it because everybody is tired of hating on DZ?

A guy as young and as good as Stepan has shown to be usually doesn't just lose it. But of course, the geniuses here will overreact and pat themselves on the back.

I'm not. He was a master in turd burglary tonight.

We played a good game of hockey, but I feel its time to shake the lines up a bit again. Maybe we can get Stepan going again, as well as make Nash a regular showing.

I'm not even mad, we're going to lose hockey games no matter what kind of hot streak we might be in.

Jk I'm pretty mad, pls trade DZ for a hotdog

Every post in here is blaming the refs I'm sick of it, so the refs missed some calls wah wah wah cry me a river, score more than one goal, 2 key power plays in the third, guess you forgot about them

normally i'd agree....

but dear god, did you watch that game at all? NO PP's until the 3rd period for the Rangers (I guess they decided to let the game try and even up at this point?) Bishop and his classless whining all night followed by his blatent trip on Zucc... he should have been handed at least one unsportsmanlike... Meanwhile, Callahan's phantom stick to Bishops "face" with the awful 'ohhhhmygod my head, thrown back!!'....

That was a horrible game, and I'll put that on Kevin Looney Rooney.

Outside of that, Tampa hung on for dear life for the last 10 minutes of the 3rd, but mostly after they took a 2-1 lead... Bishop practically stole that game for them, and everyone knows it. Bottom line is the Rangers played a solid game, and other than the MDZ-Moore **** up, the Man-to-man defense is actually getting the job done, and the fast paced offense is shriveling slower teams like Tampa to bits

because his only competition was Brandon Dubinsky... Who personally should have been chosen over Stepan in my opinion

I'm barely convinced Stepan is a 3rd line center at this point.

What the **** happened to him?

Um everyone on this board jumped the gun on calling him our "legitimate 1st line center" due to a good shortened season? In my eyes he's still a second line center. I think he has the IQ and most of the talent to be a #1 Center one day (maxing out at maybe 65 points) but he's not there yet and might never get there.

His lack of wheels takes a lot away from his game. If he was just above average in speed he would be that much better.

Bishop....terrible play by Delzotto giving up a breakaway, on the faceoff at center ice from previous goal

The Rangers had two chances on the PP in the third and couldn't tie up the game. Teams have scouted the Rangers PP and their tendencies. Bishop has the Rangers number. 5-0 with 0.91 GAA and .970 Save % in his career. The Rangers have scored so many PP goals in the last few weeks which coincides with their better record. The Rangers beat TB 4-3 in late December and scored 3 of the 4 goals on the PP. The Rangers have scored 74 even strength goals in 48 games.

Jimmy Howard has good numbers against the Rangers. He played well in the game in Detroit. The Rangers won that game in OT. Howard is 2-0-1 in his career. 1.95 and .948.

We play a good team on our home-ice, go from 1-0 to 1-2 in 7 seconds. Don't matter much who you are playing, I think any team that takes the lead like that has very good odds on their side to walk away with a win.

Hank saves that break-away our odds look a lot better.
