What did I even say that was wrong?

You can't refute what I said regarding the breakdowns, or the save percentage of goaltenders on breakaways (which I'm sure isn't 90%), so you said it was an asinine statement?

Good job refuting.

Now when ever I disagree with someone, I'll just call them asinine. Apparently that is more efficient than actually rebuking what they said.

Actually, what I said is that I won't debate someone who has no idea what they are talking about. It would not be a productive discussion.

If you had a clue, you would not have made those statements.
Can't pinpoint the breakdown? Are you really asking my to refute that gem?

The Rangers had two chances on the PP in the third and couldn't tie up the game. Teams have scouted the Rangers PP and their tendencies. Bishop has the Rangers number. 5-0 with 0.91 GAA and .970 Save % in his career. The Rangers have scored so many PP goals in the last few weeks which coincides with their better record. The Rangers beat TB 4-3 in late December and scored 3 of the 4 goals on the PP. The Rangers have scored 74 even strength goals in 48 games.

Jimmy Howard has good numbers against the Rangers. He played well in the game in Detroit. The Rangers won that game in OT. Howard is 2-0-1 in his career. 1.95 and .948.

wait what?

every team scouts every team and knows their tendancies...the Rangers controlled the puck and made some great passes, Brassard overpassed on a great scoring chance to go for the pretty tap in, and it took a great breakup to stop that from going through, and didnt the rangers hit 1 or 2 posts on their PP chances?

I thought our PP looked great, again.

just because it goes like 1 game out of our last 50 without scoring doesnt mean all of a sudden our PP sucks...

Hank saves that break-away our odds look a lot better.

Del Zotto literally doing his only job, and our odds look a lot better. Ive watched the replay a few times now and it just infuriates me how he lets that man simply skate between the lines like that.

I genuinely want Allen to replace DZ, I dont even care about his trade value anymore. We obviously cannot afford DZ to cost the team points like that, no matter how much you want to showcase him.

Anyone that says a breakaway should be stopped 9 out of 10 times shouldn't be saying that someone else has "no idea what they are talking about".

Food for thought.

.

Its almost like the guy carrying the puck right infront of the goalie, at speed, isnt a world class athlete that is *really* good at hockey, no matter what we might think. :shakehead

More often than I would like to hear it or say it, sometimes you tip your cap to the opposing goalie and move on to the next game.

Rangers had better opportunities last night and had they had more than one real finisher, this game is 5-2 Rangers

The fact is, Bishop was the best player on the ice last night by a wide margin and won a game his team tried to lose for him.

Rangers were the better team. They created more, better and high percent scoring chances.

Take that into tomorrow's game against the Wings and we should be in the game.

sucks to lose these kinds of games, but it happens.

Bishop is a really good goaltender. Our margin for error in this game was very small. And then TB started running that face-off play. Girardi stopped it the one time and DZ screwed the pooch the second time. That was the error.

Go back and read what I said. I said THAT breakaway.

For God's sake, Hank played that puck like a beginner. If you can't see that, then you don't understand what a goaltender should be doing.

I am a Hank fan. I was cautiously pumped after the Philly game, since he always plays well against the Flyers. I am simply pointing out that he is doing things that we have not seen from him in the past. He needs to work these things out for him to return to form.

I can be a fan and be critical. It doesn't have to be constant adulation, like so many on this site.

So if I were to use that logic, Hank should let every shot in, since the guys he is playing against are really good?
Go back and watch the goal. Hank lunges forward trying to poke. Kuch easily moves around the attempted poke. The question is why is he lunging forward there? There is no need to make that move and Hank playing well would never make that move in that situation.
I am the first guy who wants him to get back to his old form. I also put the majority of the blame on DZ. I am simply pointing out that Hank played that puck poorly.

90% of the posts here seem to claim that either the officials screwed the Rangers, or they are (and continue to be) the unluckiest team in the world.

Couldn't possibly be that they are a mediocre team and will have games like this, right? Nahhh

I had a feeling you would be particularly excited after this game.

They created chances and were robbed. They went 0-2 not 0-10.

Excited? No.

I just find it more satisfying to call it as I see it then pretend that the NHL and the cosmic Gods are lined up against the Rangers.

This is a mediocre team in a pretty bad conference, that will probably make the playoffs and not make much noise there. Then Sather will try to deal with the pending mess hes about to create with his personnel come this summer.

Considering this vicious cycle thats gone on for the majority of my 25 years as a fan, its awfully tough to get too high or too low on a game to game basis anymore.

You're right, excited is not the right word.

I call it like I see it as well. This team has lost a number of bad games. They've lost a number of horrific games. Last night they outplayed one of the better teams in the league. By a fair margin. They moved the puck extremely well, again, both at ES and on the PP and had probably a dozen prime scoring chances and got stopped by the guy who would win the Vezina if the season ended today.

Its a frustrating loss, but unfortunately its not the game to smugly thump your chest about. Don't worry, you will get your chance. This is the Rangers after all.

This exactly. We have had issues this season, but does anyone really feel like this game had many similarities to how we played at the beginning of the year and the first part of December? The Rangers played well. In fact, I'd even say they played very well. They got beaten by a goaltender who happens to have some crazy mojo and soaring confidence against the Rangers. The best teams in the league lose games like this, and the Rangers aren't even one of those.

In the 5 previous games, the Rangers scored 3 or more. They had won their last 3. With the parity in the league, it's rare for a team to get 3+ in 6 straight or even win 4 straight. The Rangers continued doing a lot of the good things they've been doing in those stretches. They're still 4-1-1 in their last 6. Carry a chip on their shoulder from the frustration into the next game and they'll be fine.

It also isn't the type of game to start throwing excuses out as to why the team lost. Lundqvist played well, Bishop played excellent. The Rangers carried the play and couldn't score. They had a 9 second brain-fart and that was that. It happens. But I didn't come away from that game thinking "Holy ****, the Rangers definitely should have won."

I think the team has been playing fairly well for the past 3 weeks or so. Not well enough to ignore the tsunami of issues that await the direction of this team headed into the summer.

He's not usually right. If he were usually right the Rangers would make the Sabres look like a juggernaut.

I think you have some serious issues with tough love and criticism.

Oh, and by the way, the Sabres seem to be on track for a multi-year rebuild. I fully expect them to jettison Miller, Moulson, etc at the deadline and start from scratch.

Thats a long-term plan, and thats all I've been asking for from the Rangers. Its a better strategy than purgatory.
