Petry had stretches where he looked like a top pairing D, other stretches where he was Jeff Putrid.

Matheson is a better Chris Campoli. He might better than 80% of last year’s Petry, but so is my left testicle.

I am thinking, where he is younger and makes less money than Jeff Putrid, and wants to play for the habs, a good thing............
We all knew Petry was going back to the US with his wifes concerns about the Covid issue.
Overall, I think the habs did pretty well on this deal.......they wanted a vet to help mentor the kids coming.
Hughes says this guy is a great guy to do just that.

Seriously? She said she thought being locked down in Montreal was not good for her kids, they could still do activities in Michigan. Isolation IS bad for people and we are going to be reaping the mental health consequences for a long time, even if we think it was justified from the contagion point of view. Her kids were able to still do activities and see family in Michigan as well as get help from family. Maybe when they made the decision they didn’t realize how hard it would be on Petry. Or maybe the first year of lockdown Petry didn’t realize how hard being locked down alone with 3 small kids would be on his wife.

Maybe judge people as hockey players since you can watch the games and see how they are performing. Save your judgments about people as human beings for decisions they make privately, as a family, to address the issues they are facing.

Meh, you should always take into account which team a player is on when using the giveaway stat. Expect way more giveaways with the habs.

That said, I was using Campoli’s name as a joke, but their numbers are actually very comparable when pro-rated. So I take back my “Better” Chris Campoli comparison.

I think the above is essentially how things played out. The very last para, she may be a monster, isn’t really plausible or necessary. We may all be monsters, but if we give people the benefit of the doubt, we’ll be right > than 90% of the time.

Not saying MM will become what Petry was but there are similarities. Offensive Dman drafted high who struggled to put up points /produce early in their career. MM has 49G 89A for 138 points in 417 Games as a 28 year old. Petry at 28 had career totals of 25-72-97 in 365 games played. in 438 games over last 6 years Petry has 62G -163A and 225 points. Dmen take time to develop. The next 3-4 years may very well be MM's best.

Life can be tough and sometimes families make hard decisions in life that put temporary stress on them. Time to grow up and realize in the real world not everything is sunshine and rainbows and people have rough years, not that a wife is some crazy person, uncaring of her husband's mental anguish.

Agreed that 100 things will happen between now and then.....so don't assume his cap hit will be peanuts in 25-26 cause it might not be.

MM is okay, hes a #5 or a #4 on a giod day. Campoli was.... eh. I miss those days because it was so funny seeing players this bad.
