Why would they move him if he plays well?
Same reason they moved Romanov. We have a ton of LDmen and could use some assets from that position of strength to shore up other positions.

Yeah, it really bad.Has there ever been a worst D lineup in the history of the team?
Its fine for the tanking but our best dman this year is at best a #3
Yeah well, he didn't get him and praising the hell out of him to trade him away anytime soon.Same reason they moved Romanov. We have a ton of LDmen and could use some assets from that position of strength to shore up other positions.

Matheson is a 4.... Maybe 3 if he builds on last year.
Edmundson is a debatable 4
Harris has alot to learn, let's say 6 for now
Savard is a 6
Wideman, shoe, Leskinen all 7s or worse.
Even the houle era had a far better defense than this.
Hughes mentioned him seeing Barron being on the blue in Montreal.
I think Guhle will secure a spot also.
I think Barron and Guhle will play NHL this year, but not sure they both make the team out of camp
Ouch.... Rough times ahead.

A #3? Who ?Has there ever been a worst D lineup in the history of the team?

I'd be very disappointed if they make the team without AHL time. It'd be a page out of the Bergevin playbook. At least Harris is 22, Guhle has nothing to lose from starting the year with Laval.Note that Hughes said at the end of his post Petry trade presser that he sees Barron on the blue line in Montreal this year.
Guhle almost made the team last year. It seems likely he'll win a spot.

Seems you missed the golden age of houle and co. Its not even close to being the worst....Has there ever been a worst D lineup in the history of the team?

Under Bergevin the habs usually had a top D-man, they were missing a second pairing guy or two most of the time while he kept rotating third pairing guys or worse through those slots. Those years were bad, but probably not worse than the upcoming year.17-18 the alzner-schlemko era
f*** bergevin

They had some really bad guys short term late '90s and early '00s but they usually had at least a few good players in there.
I am disappointed with this trade. I was hoping even for 3rd round pick just to get rid of his contract and not take on any others. However, I am on the full tank for Bedard train though.
MB inherited Subban and Markov, then added Petry. They were backed up by Price. All we needed was some damn offense at centre. Most of the guys you mentioned are rookies, they won't be much improvements over what we previously had.Matheson shouldn't move the needle.
But we lost a lot of man games last year.
We have some new players coming in: Dach, Dadonov, maybe Slaf, Matheson, Barron, Harris, maybe Guhle. Will be interesting to see how things go.
Totally forgot about this - could be a decent chance to pick up a couple players from some deeper teamsHe did mention in his presser the possibility of grabbing someone put on waivers (Habs are first till season starts for waivers).
If Price returns next year with this defense he may sue the Canadiens for providing a dangerous work place environment...We had for 2-3 years a very good defense with Subban-Markov-Petry and then Weber-Markov-Petry. Price was the major reason we won but the defense in front of him was actually more than decent. Even if Price is back to his usual self next season people should not expect miracle with the defense we have. Our best dman next season would not make the top 3 we used to have some years ago and while Emelin had its limitations he was at least elite at something so not sure i'd say the best dman we have atm is much better than him.

Not even sure if most of them will even make the team. Even if all the guys you mention have decent-good rookie years, we should be pretty bad.
The one big question is Price. If he's back healthy playing as well as he does, ie about 2 GA per game...
Our group up front could be surprising...If Slaf jumps in to be a good winger right off the bat, Suzuki and Caufield take another step forward, Drouin's back in it, Dadonov bounces back up to his 65-70pt self, Dach shows why he went 3rd OV....add in Hoffman, Anderson, Gallagher, Dvorak...It's actually a pretty decent group, some good depth there.
Will be an interesting year, but hopefully we will suck and land Bedard.
