Confirmed with Link: [PIT/MTL] Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling for Mike Matheson and 4th PIT 2023

59 pages of nonsense talk, over a nonsense trade, that will end up meaning absolutely nothing in the long term.

Petry, Matheson, Poehling,

None of these players will be part of this team when it is ready to compete again.

A disgruntled player was let go, that player was replaced by a plug for now.

Poehling was never a serious part of this team/franchise.

Out of all the terrible contracts on this team Petry's was the one to be the LEAST concerned about.

The franchise has more serious issues to worry about, this trade is not one of them.

If you want something to complain about, then complain about why Poehling wasn't ditched years ago for ROR, instead of a 4th round pick.
Poehliing for ROR, ahhhhhhhhh the Bergevin Era just wont go away....

Maybe the trade wouldn’t have happened without Poehling? Team culture appears to be important to Hughes and clearly, he wasn’t willing to wait to get a better return on Petry by starting the season with him.

Poehling is an enigma. Has interesting tools but doesn’t often show them. When a guy needs too much prodding, never a good sign. Sad to see another 1st rounder sent off but there are players with a bigger motor and faster waiting in the wings and one of them will be ready to take his place.
At this point Poehling has shown that he is a less combative version of Jacob De La Rose. Moving on from this dude will be painless.

I’m liking the way Matheson stands up for teammates while Jeff Petry left his testicles at home (his wife stored them for him in a pickle jar) and resorted to an empty stare whenever teammates got unfairly targeted, like Monty last year:

At this moment I started to dislike Petry. Monty deserved more respect and partnership and Petry did nothing.

Our first round picks (from 2006 to 2018) aren't with us anymore... This is Bustland...

That has to change!

Whoever started to spin Wright as the next Patrice Bergeron did him a huge disservice as they were litterally setting him up to fail. His whole defensive game needs to be rebuilt from ground zero... All his exceptional skills are on the offensive side of the ledger. Why not market that side of his game?
I don't think scouts are worried about his defensive aspect. From everything I've read and heard, Wright fell because scouts viewed him as a generational talent during his rookie year. They were disappointed by his offensive output coming out of the pandemic and his lack of compete down the stretch.

I like Matheson and wouldn't mind having a player like him be one of the vets on the team.

However I was really hoping Petry would be traded for futures as this move doesn't make our team worse.

The fact that he plays LD is also interesting considering we have Guhle, Xhekaj, Hutson, Harris and Norlinder that are stronger on the left.

On his dads insistence !! Look it up

Petry almost didn’t want to play in Montréal he wanted Detroit.

It was petry dad that convinced him to play in Montréal

Fact

His wife didn’t

Where is this link that factualizes that Jeff signed in Montreal against his wife's wishes?

I'm skeptical of this. That's not how marriages work.

Man, he bailed on a season and his teammates last year.............................see ya later!!
Matheson is younger, makes less and moves the puck better.

This was likely posted somewhere on this board already but with Poehling now gone that's another 1st round Habs pick out the door.

Soooooooooooo many mistakes..............and we wonder why we finished in the basement without Price last year.
Farce............

Though I dont understand the Poehling part of te deal, I'm okay with it.
He's another example of an overrated Habs prospect.

IMO Wright’s offensive output was fine looking at the whole season. Slaf and Cooley went ahead of him with numbers which were worse or no better than Wright’s. He had a slow start offensively which in and of itself is not catastrophic.

But instead of sticking to the message that Wright’s still an outstanding offensive talent and he should bounce back offensively in 2022, the message was now he was Patrice Bergeron 2.0. Which is untrue as he’s lethargic defensively and he has poor stats on every defensive metric. Probably just because he hasn’t really learned the defensive side of the game.

I assume this was to overcompensate the fact he had been spun as generational, the message now was he’s close to generational minus the offence, I.e Bergeron. I just think he would have been better served on sticking to the exceptional nature of his offensive skills.
