"Several years" is a little harsh, but the 2 golden years of Gally-Danault-Tatar being one the best lines in all of hockey are getting more and more historic, I'll grant you.
Re-signing Danault then and Tatar this summer would have been far, far more profitable.

To me, Evans has not gotten better since the Danault days. Maybe I expect too much but last night's breakaway that just fizzled into the boards, the lame shot from the point (like he's Shea Weber) when we were pressing to equalize, I just found his play disappointing.
I was also disappointed in his game last night. But it's only one game. So hoping he can get back to form.

I believe this behavior from the Leafs fan is called coping...

No idea what his current injury is, but he had a recurrent season start groin injury issue in the past. He went to consult specialists but nothing conclusive came out of those consultation from what I remember. Kent Hughes would know about them, he was his advisor before becoming the Habs GM.

He doesn't get injured in-season that much from what I remember of his NCAA career, just the groin after long period of no playing.
He missed a lot of his first year in the NCAA, and missed several games for injury every year after, so ended up playing 80% of the possible games. Jordan Harris, who overlapped with him in three of those years, played 97% of the games. Anyway, I am hoping he can stay healthy.

Wow I expected Roy and beck to get another match.
Beck has to go back because of the rules. No room for Roy and he hasn't knocked anyone's socks off. Need to clear more contracts. None of the next level kids have done enough except maybe Mailloux who is close but understandably could use some seasoning.

So basically if we have 20 forwards left, that means probably Heineman, Kidney, Andersson, Maillet, and Farrell are getting cut after today's game. Leaving the 14 we expect plus Dvo on IR.

On D, it will be interesting to see what they do with Barron, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Lindstrom, and Trudeau. Though we think only Barron stays.

Barron doesn't look ready at all. He needs minutes in Laval. I would keep Mailloux over him at this point.

Glad Mailloux and Trudeau are getting another look on d. I doubt either make it, but maybe Reinbacher will get a handful games before he is sent back to Europe.

Roy's done well and shown them enough most likely, he was never making the team and will be AHL bound and could very well get a call up a few months down the road so getting 'cut' here is no big deal for him really

It's Beck I thought might get 1 more look seeing as how there was no AHL for him, but oh well, keep working on it Owen

Yeah, we'll see.

Maybe we go:

Matheson - Savard
Xhekaj - Guhle
Harris - Kovacevic
Lindstrom

Mailloux certainly shouldn't be the 7th D.

But Xhekaj on his off hand on the second pair next to Guhle? There certainly is a glaring hole on the right side next to Guhle, and Mailloux, Barron, and Reinbacher, plus Lindstrom, appear to be the top candidates to fill it. I don't think Kovacevic should be top 4.

Xhekaj has not looked good so far either... def don't want him on his off-hand. Laval might be good for him too. Maybe trade for Deslauriers if they send him down, but I doubt they do.

If Mailloux is ready, they need to make room is my point.

Too bad Hughes couldn't convince Petry to come back. He could have been a good stop gap. And I think he would have played well enough this year to fetch either a 1st or a 2nd with 50% retained at the TDL.

Yea, that was annoying. I don't understand that. Petry is exactly what we needed. Savard has to be on the third pair if this team has a chance. Or gone.

I think his wife turned sour on Montreal after she was harrassed on social media for how bad Petry was playing under Ducharme. And that was that. I don't think covid was the main problem.

His wife loved Montreal, it was just the covid restrictions that kept them from their family. and then the idiot portion of the fanbase started attacking her online. Even if she's wrong who cares, leave the players alone.
