This year Habs teams will be a very similar roster to last season, just without Hoffman, Drouin and Dadonov while Armia, Gallagher, Savard and Allen are all older and worst looking in this pre-season.

You expect the kids to take a step forward to compensate, but that doesn't mean going from 5th worst team to top 5 in the league in one off-season in year two of the rebuild.
Becoming a contender is fine. Bottom five is better than scraping in or out of the playoffs. I’d expect a 10-15 pick this year, probably just outside the really good ones, again.

Dach needs some physical help on his line, not to “save” him but to share the workload. Slaf ain’t ready and RHP too smoll.
He also needs to play with shooters. As Marty said, the forwards aren't a problem, there will be lots of combinations to try.

Caufield - Suzuki - Monahan
RHP-Dach-Armia/Slaf?
Slafkovsky/Armia? - Newhook - Anderson
Pearson - Evans - Gallagher (a mini-version of Tatar-Danault-Gally?)

If we're every going to get rid of Armia... but same can be said of Gally. And Monahan needs fat numbers for us to get a high pick.

The problem is here, and no qb either (Guhle maybe). Matheson can carry/shoot but not exactly a playmaker/qb.

Matheson - Savard?
Guhle - ?
