Really like this guy.

Coyotes have a lot of REALLY exciting young guys to go along with him.

Strome, Dvorak, Chychrun and Crouse all rookies this year to go along with Domi and Duclair last year.

Add in Keller and I though the Deangelo trade was also a really great move.

Coyotes should be the next great power in the West (a la Blackhawks).

Went into the boards really awkwardly on a hybrid icing. Hope he didn't damage anything in his legs too bad. He was down for a bit and went to the dressing room.

He was real solid tonight. That fall scared me for a bit. It looked like it could have been really bad, but he came back and played.

Was flying on that rush too.

Not shown: He was furthest back in the D zone and basically flat out sprinted to get in position for that. He has incredible instincts. I don't know where scouts got the impression that he couldn't think the game. It looks just the opposite, like he thinks the game on a level most don't reach.

Tippett structure is probably a good thing. I'd believe he was overthinking last year or trying to do too much to live up to his expected draft position. As a 17 year old he was asked to be his teams primary offensive defenceman, whereas at 16 he could rely on D'Angelo for most of the year. I don't think it helped he came into the season last year with an injury.

Classic example of a player that is over scouted. Great pick up by the Coyotes. Thought he fell way too low in the draft.

Yep. Lots of teams are going to regret passing on this guy. Bruins in particular...they got a good player but passing on this guy when you badly needed D is a big mistake. He is NHL ready.

Here's a video that shows it. Starts in his own crease and recognizes the play that is about to develop and just motors across the ice.

Still cannot understand why he dropped so far. Great skater, big, physical, explosive, just a top notch athlete in general. Excellent shot, good defensive instincts, reasonably smart and a fairly good puck handler and playmaker. Definitely seems to have top pairing upside, and 2nd pairing is roughly his floor IMO.

Seems like teams thought "we thought this guy was a franchise player, turns out he's only really good, so ... we're not gonna draft him at all?" By all means, don't take him 2nd overall, but a bit nuts to let him slip out of the top 10, and REALLY crazy to let him fall out of the top 15.

Feel blessed to have the kid...he's so damn good. I'm a STH and was at the game last night, and he had a ton of unseasoned/new fans buzzing about him. So confused at how far he fell.

Not a chance. Mcavoy is a stud. The most underrated first rounder in 2016 draft

The pick I'd probably question the most as going over Chychrun is McLeod. I'd add Kunin, but I can see why Minnesota didn't go D. I probably would have taken Chychrun in the top 10, but I can see legitimate reasons for most of the other guys who went above him.

I hear ya but did you see the GIF of the guy motor up the ice ?? :amazed:

The guy is NHL fast. At age 18. That is NOT normal for a Defender , especially his size. Hedman wasnt that fast at 18 even.

I am happy for the Coyotes. Its great for the NHL as a whole for the Yotes to become legitimate contenders.

Hell, Shane Doan might just play until age 45 so he can see it happen.

I agree with most of the post except the part where it's great for the NHL to have coyotes as a contender. Why do you believe That?
