Blown lead to the Kings?

That's a play that McDonagh would've made, having that instinct to be aggressive knowing he has the skating ability to force the issue and break it up. Skjei chose the safe play to drop back and give them the 2 on 1 which isn't necessarily the wrong play. But you know, that's what makes McDonagh an elite player, the ability to know when to make that play.
.

Yup. Skjei has the skating and athleticism McDonagh has/had to close gaps like that but not the hockey IQ or awareness, kids got rocks for brains and will probably always be a 3/4 guy just barely getting by on his skating ability.

DeAngelo's assist was a thing of beauty and the first line is still looking like a legit first line. Too bad so many want to get rid of Zuccarello for a pick.

A ridiculous way of looking at things. So many want to get rid of Zuccarello as to not lose him for nothing. Also, Zucc is 31 this season and having a career year. How many more years at this level do you think he has?

Not trading Zucc or Hayes or any of these other guys is a surefire way to remain in mediocrity or worse for an extended period.

Our top-5 was heavily matched up against their top-5 and blew them right out of the water:

*Matchups are limited to 5-on-5 situations. Tile size is scaled by Time On Ice and colour is scaled by adjusted Expected Goals differential. Blue represents a home team advantage and red represents a road team advantage.

Yeah let's keep Zucc and watch him walk for nothing.

That game was like every finals game to me. Rangers seem fine and then at the last second the rug gets pulled out. I hate the Kings. At least there were no major injuries.

So letting the guy that actually does have the puck walk to the net is less dangerous than the guy who hasn't even gotten the pass yet? I'd much rather he takes one guy out of the play instead of neither.

You've clearly never understood hockey then. Two on ones are always played where the defensemen takes away the pass so the goalie can concentrate on the puck and stop the shot. You are lost to say Brady should have done anything different.

Mica and Kreider continue to set themselves apart from the rest of the team! I now actually believe the team may have at least two pieces of the “core” in place long term. Now, what’s worth focusing on is:

1. how does the defense get helped? 2.Who’s the long term answer in net?
3.How do they develop any of this flaming trash heap of young talent beyond their mediocre to below average talent levels
4. Who’s the game changing player that will take the team to the next level that’s not currently in the organization?

The Rangers couldn't lose at home in November. They went 7-1 at home in November. They have been bad at home in the last couple of months.

Lost to Winnipeg in a shootout 4-3. They had a 3-0 lead in the 3rd period.

Lost to Arizona in OT 4-3 on a Stepan GWG. They were in complete control of that game. Arizona hung around and OEL beat Lundqvist from the blue line.

Lost to Vegas 4-3 in OT on a Tuch GWG.

Beat Anaheim 3-1 in a boring game. It was in slow motion. Johnson was in net for Anaheim.

Lost to Philly in a shootout 3-2.

Lost a brutal game to Columbus 4-3. The Rangers were up 3-2. Strome scored a goal to make it 4-2 and it was off side. Columbus scores in the last minute to tie it up at 3-3. Dubois scored in OT.

Pittsburgh blew them out 7-2.

Lost to the Islanders 4-3 in the waning minute on a goal by Bailey.

The Rangers blew out Carolina as usual. Carolina hasn't won a game since Barack Obama's 1st term as president.

The Rangers beat Chicago 4-3 in a game where the Rangers controlled play and should have been up 3 goals in the 2nd period.

Lost to Philly 1-0. Stolarz shut them out.

Lost to Tampa 3-2.

Lost to LA 4-3 in OT on a Toffoli goal. LA had no business winning the game.

13 home games.

3-4-6

Don't worry, they may not even trade him. And if they do (they get a very good offer) he will go to the playoffs as a rental. I believe there's a big chance he'll be back next season with the C on his chest.

Things are really converging in your favor this season RB.

The Rangers are actually a pretty good team outside a few specific situations, where they are terrible beyond belief. Injuries, "maturity issues" and some odd lineup choices have made sure these specific situations have occurred far more often than they should.

Cody McLeod plays few minutes when he dresses, but those few minutes have disastrous impacts nonetheless. Cody McLeod has the worst goal differential per minute in the league among players with 200+ minutes this season.

Neal Pionk leads the team in TOI/GP despite having awful impacts in every situation (EV, PP, PK), aside from a stretch when Zibanejad scored on every other shot from the left circle and Pionk picked up 15 points in an 18 games gingerly sliding the puck across the ice on the PP.

Brett Howden started out hot and scored a bunch of points, giving him a very long leash to be overwhelmingly outscored in significant minutes.

Now that the team is healthy, Quinn has found combinations that work very well (e.g. 20-93-36, 18-77, 42-22) and the ice time of the three players mentioned above has been limited or entirely cut we're seeing the team playing very good hockey.

Fortunately for you, the trade deadline looms. The team playing well is boosting the value of our players, increasing the expected returns at the deadline, but the deadline will also make sure this purple patch likely won't be able to continue after we've traded away key pieces such as Hayes and Zuccarello and as such making sure we don't play ourselves out of a good pick.

You do know how stupid you sound with the "you dont understand hockey" "you are lost"thing right? That doesn't explain how what i said is wrong.

Now try again, with respect if you are able, or go back to your gutter.

The Rangers have four forwards capable of producing any offense on a consistent basis. Zibanejad who has been great in the last 3-4 weeks. Kreider who has fallen back on earth since December. Zuccarello who is playing his best hockey of the season. Hayes who has been good all season but he wasn't good last night. Maybe he celebrated the Patriots SB win a little too hard the night before. They trade away at least two of them(Hayes & Zuccarello for sure, maybe Kreider(depends)) by the 25th. Look out. Timber. Watch out. Look out below. Timber. They have 20 games left after the deadline. 10 more games before the deadline. 1-2-1 since coming back from the long break.

Yeah, they're going to suck when Hayes and Zucc are gone - no doubt about that.

We need them to suck. Look it’s feb 5th and they’ve been very fun to watch competitive it’s way more than we expected. But now it’s time to go full tank mode. We could be in the bottom 3 or 4 very quickly. 2 months of hockey left I have no problem losing at this point while watching some of the kids play.
