5 1sts? no way
fans gotta stop thinking you'll see NBA-type trades in NHL

maybe more like a 1st, Chytil, Robertson and another promising prospect like Boyko or Pajuniemi or Henriksson

Look, Chychrun is good and all but more likely some kind of salary dump is going the other way if Arizona doesn't hold back salary. More like a warm body from the roster like forwards Chytl or Kravsoft, d-men like Lindgren or Nemeth, plus the Rangers 1st. My best guesses. o_O

As an outsider I find it pretty funny
NYR: We want your guy but are best prospects are off the table.
AZ: We want a blue chipper.
NYR: Take these other guys. Wait, no he is not worth 5 1sts.
AZ: That's fine we don't need 5 1sts just 1 blue chipper and a 1st.

To NYR:
Jacob Chychrun

To ARZ:
2022 1st round pick
2023 1st round pick
TWO of Nils Lundkvist, Zac Jones, Brennan Othmann, or Braden Schneider (Arizona choice)
Vitali Kravtsov

Really good player on a solid contract. With that said, Rangers don’t need him.

Lindgren has been a perfect pairing for Fox
K Andre Miller is fully capable of his #3 position and has really come into his own.

Rangers power play is excellent with Fox as QB. Trouba on PP2 is effective

You don’t trade that many assets to obtain a defenseman who won’t be on PP1, and won’t be in your top 2 pairs.

Which is a reasonable position rangers are pretty stacked. Just find the count gets so high when AZ fans will be lucky if they get the value of 2 1sts, 1 really high 1st ( a blue chipper) and 1 later 1st. So people saying he is not worth 5 1sts is interesting as every team prefers quality over quantity so lower numbers.

They are not ditching Fox's partner to satisfy your fetish of having a team of Fox, Panarin, Kreider, Mika, Shesterkin and 18 ELC's.

Strome, 5yrs, 27.5 signed after the season. Book it.

2 of those elcs -> rfas = LaF + Kakko. Very soon, Fox's partner will have to go, and since they have Robertson + in the pipeline, that is doable. LaF + KK not so easily replaced from multiple perspectives.

Strome cannot be even a thought without prompting forced trades of LaF+KK on unfavorable terms, so he is gone also. Can only hope Drury is not stupid here b'c math doesn't lie, and Strome + Geo + Hajek + Nemeth must ALL be moved without substitution to afford new Fox + Zib deals

Rangers could do far, far worse than consistently listening to me.
You on the other hand are an Islanders fan....

That's an interesting take. You ignored this part, though

NYR: He's a nice player, but hardly a pressing need for us.

Strome doesn't have to be moved. Rangers aren't forced to re-sign him.

Him finishing out the season and helping us in the playoffs is more valuable than dumping him for a pick when we're battling for first place.

I'm saying this as fact, not opinion. Since you do the same.

But what about the third round pick we could get for him? Isn't that more important than playoff experience and not pissing off your entire roster?

It is your opinion, not fact, and I disagree
Strome is a nice player, productive on offense. He is not a superior/elite level player.

More mins to others and room for Kravtsov > Strome, not even counting swag returned in trade

worth more than a 3rd, esp if retained, extra esp if retained 2x

And eff the roster, more like a guy or 2. The club comes first for the fans, not the other way around.

Its a very strong possibility if strome has a bad playoff/rest of the year, they do move on from him.
However you’re absolutely right about not blowing up their Roster to get Chycrun so he can play middle pair with trouba.
The way Chycrun would be deployed for NYR, it’s not worth the assets to get him, nor would he be a giant upgrade on miller when both are getting 3/4 minutes with trouba and no PP time.
You keep Miller, whose bigger, faster, and cheaper and progressing just fine.
Its not like Miller has hit his absolute best already.
