I think STL did position themselves well and they have won their last 4, including wins over Chicago and Minny, but I just don't see them getting past us. They just haven't matched up well against our size. If they were a faster and more talented team, they might be able to make a stronger push; but pending Greene coming back and in shape ready to go, I don't fear them. Chicago on the other hand.... very worried. They are talented, gritty and their backstops have been playing pretty well all season.

Either way, I hope we make some serious noise this playoffs, if anything, bury SJ and just rub it in all the live long day :)

was at the game, didn't really see this discussed on here but just wanted to know if the replays shows Corey Perry as offsides on that breakaway goal? It looked like he was crazy offsides from where i was.

Thought the linesmen were pretty terrible all evening long.

But yea, was a joy to watch the kings tonight play with so much determination and passion. Kings were tenacious in all aspects of puck retrieval and making great reads to take the puck away, ducks had a hell of a time getting out of their own zone. But give credit to them for capitalizing on their oppurtunities, but i'm in no way bummed that we didn't get the 2 points. We played awesome despite one of 2 or 3 sketchy bernier starts. For the most part bernier has been more than solid on his starts.

I love that you can argue for either kopitar or carter as our team MVP. Both are valuable to this team in different ways.. and both are our centers and both are producing as well getting all the subtleties right. I'd have to give the nod to carter at this point because he's had to carry an out of shape Richards and a revolving door on the other wing (clifford // penner // toffoli // richardson).

There aren't shootouts in the playoffs, but there is 5-5 sudden death. Kings and Ducks are pretty even 5-5 (Ducks with slight advantage).

I would base it on the fact that you play a speed game and we can shut that down especially during the playoffs. I would refer you to our Cup run of last season. We are about to get Greene back and you won't be facing Ellerby during the playoffs so expect our D to be significantly better than what you faced tonight and have faced all season long from us.

I would also add that you faced our back up goalie who was having an off night. The fact of the matter is that neither of us know what will happen during the playoffs but I will say that John's opinion is as valid and potentially true as your own, even more so in my opinion.

Like I said, we can base that opinion on several facts while your only back up is that you have faced a deminished version of us during the regular season.

I would argue that your position is naive especially since a different version of your team won a cup recently and you know how different things are during the post season.

I don't think you need to go to your own boards or anything but you should understand that we Kings fans know what we have here because we watch every game. In a 7 game series agains the Ducks I like our chances........alot.

You also faced our backup goalie, and you faced us without our best player (possibly the best player in the western conference this year). Just sayin'. You can make the excuse about Greene being banged up, but both teams have had injuries. Two of our best centers (Getzlaf and Bonino) were gone today. That put us at a significant disadvantage in both ends...still came away with the win.

And it was a back to back for the kings. You can come in here and try to sell your team all you want, overrated....period.

That sounds abit arrogant tbh.

I'm sorry if arrogant is the message. It's more of a confidence. I have every bit of confidence that this Kings team would have little or no issues against this current ducks team in a playoff series.

Overrated? We're in second place and everyone keeps posting about how unsustainable we are. If anything, we're being underrated. You're butthurt is clear, and it is off the charts

That move is the new Jarret Stoll wrister top right corner - overused but ****ing money seemingly every time.

Nobody ever claimed they were a bad team, but that 20-3-3 was simply not indicative of the true strength of that team.
I don't think you'd really find many Ducks fans that believed 20-3-3 was a record "indicative of the true strength of the team". That's a point-percentage you see few years. I don't think the majority among Ducks fans (at least around here, who knows about people commenting on facebook or along those lines...) believed we are suddenly one of the best teams the league has seen in years.

And to be fair, yes, there actually were quite a few that claimed the Ducks are a bad team, with all sorts of luck being the difference between 24th last year and the record this year. That has a bit to do with how defensive many of us got along that road. :)

Take away the skills comp and Kings actually have more wins than the Ducks.
The Ducks are pretty good 5-5 (4th). I don't think it's entirely reasonable to believe that we'd have dropped so many of the 9 that just happened to not be decided before without the shootout.

I still think the Kings take Ducks if they meet in playoffs. CHI, STL, SJS are the teams I fear most in playoffs.
And by all means, the majority should take the Kings over the Ducks in a playoff series. They would be the favourites without much questioning, IMO. They slumped out of the gate, but they are a Stanley Cup caliber team as they have proven last year. That isn't just being offset by the Ducks playing very well and making the most out of what they have.

I don't believe many Ducks fans should take offense to anyone thinking the Blackhawks are a tougher matchup, either. Except for the Blackhawks themselves, maybe. The Blues are seen similar to LA, so I don't think many would take offense to them being seen as a tougher opponent, either. At least I agree that nobody should (take offense to that).

...but sorry if I just don't feel the Ducks are nearly as good as their record indicates, and that while it won't be a cake walk, the Kings should be able to handle the Ducks in the playoffs.
The latter isn't an unfair belief at all, and even less so for a fan. :) The former is something that can be interpreted in two ways. If you take the record as purely indicative of play so far, I'd disagree. If you take record as indicative of a team's true ability, I don't think you're wrong. I certainly don't think the Ducks being 3rd in the league means they are a top-3 contender. I don't believe many Ducks fans actually believe that, either.

I don't even care. Kings are the better team.

We would murder Anaheim in a 7 game series.

This.

I dont know why people are complaining. They missed Getzlaf, but in the end the Kings are the better team.

A win would have been nice, but just stop with this whining. Two years ago, we had 10 SO wins or so and nobody complained. They are part of the game and luckily for us, not part of the playoffs.

Thought I'd share this with you guys to cheer some of you up, hope you guys laugh. Hope he wasn't hurt on the play either, looked fine to me

Until Richards tweeted that comment, I thought Fasth caught him with is stick as he went by and that's what caused him to fall....

Now somebody please say they got a clip of Ryan just flat out falling down before the face off that had all the players on the ice laughing?

The reason for a win or loss is always there before the game.

The Ducks don't have Getzlaf, so if they win, it's a great effort to step up by lesser players. If they lose, well, Getzlaf didn't play. The Kings play on back to back nights, so if they win, it's a great effort by a team to step up when tired. If they lose, well, back to back against NHL teams, with the 2nd game against the better team of the two, isn't easy.

The Kings couldn't stop a team without Getzlaf from scoring 3 goals. The Ducks couldn't stop a team that played the night before from coming back 3 times, even giving up a goal late in the 3rd period.

It all depends upon your perspective, and that perspective probably depends on the result.

In the end, it was a fun game, both teams came to play with whatever they had, and a playoff series between the two would be great.

He wasn't offside.

As for Carter, I'd say he's the MVP. And your comment about him carrying an out of shape Richards is silly, he was fine after the first 5 or 6 games and is responsible for doing a lot of the dirty work for getting Carter his goals. The 2 of them have had a liability on wing from the beginning where Kopi has had steady linemates.

Hartnell would be so proud!

As for the game, the Kings dominated most of the play and Anaheim didn't have an answer for it. Just be thankful there are no shootouts in the playoffs, so the gimmick and the teams that take advantage of the gimmick are at a disadvantage.

It has very little to do with the shootout. But okay. I'm out since I spoke out against the unholy Kings and now all you guys are going to blindly follow the herd.

IT'S NOT ABOUT ONE ****ING GAME. Christ you guys....

Then maybe you should explain yourself a little better. What holes do Quick and Bernier have in their games that haven't been corrected by Ranford?

When you post a single sentence without explaining yourself immediately after a shootout loss, then yes, it seems like an over reaction.
