Long time poster, quick question about the rules. Are we allowed to throw positive snap judgements and praise guys like Hutson? I thought a good way to assess players is looking at negatives and positives equally. Everyone knows it's a development camp... Why is it bad to call out disappointing players.
It's the same thing, snap positive on anything outside of skating ability is pointless after one rookie scrimmage. It's okay to be positive or negative, just not talking in absolutes.

Legit.

Ovi, Crosby, Mackinnon, Matthews, Mcdavid, Dahlin, Hughes, Kovalexhuk, Lecavalier, Power, Tavares, Stamkos, Kane, Nash, Thornton and we get fkn Juraj man.

JURAJ. Im not even sure he can match RNHs or Hischiers career.
Habs are allergic to competence it seems

It's okay. It's gonna be okay.
I mean, I've disagreed with him many times but in this case I have to agree with him. Not trying to bash the kid, I think he will be a good player, but it just sucks that the one time we get 1st overall, there's no real consensus/legit uncontested elite guy. We have bad luck with high picks, Chucky, KK, Slaf; it's just unfortunate.

It has nothing to do with competence, it's just bad timing/luck on when we tank. No slight on the kids or management, it is what it is.

There's a saying. You have to be good to be lucky, and lucky to be good. It's a cycle. Competence brings luck and vice versa. Slaf was a bad move in my opinion. Even if you didn't want Wright, I preferred other options on the table

Not even sure Slaf is that different from KK and Chucky, hes around a 3-5th pick most years.

I prefered Wright as well but my point is still valid. We tanked in a year where there was no legit/uncontested elite #1 pick. When's the last time that happened?

Ya maybe man. I think people are misinterpreting what you're trying to say and taking it as an attack. It just sucks that the one year we get 1st OA, there's no elite guy, it sucks. I'm with you on that one 100%

Ya that's what I was thinking. The best players were picked later, specifically Makar.
Go and review draft year videos of Dach (3) and Kakko (2), (shifts+games) and slot them this year. Slavkovsky, Cooley and Wright will look very good in comparison.

No. Kakko wouldve gone first by a fair bit. Byram too.

Most 2nd overalls wouldve gone 1st this year. Blame Wrights shitty attitude.

Beniers? Probably.
Stutzle.
Kakko.
Svechnikov.
Laine.
Eichel and Marner
Draisaitl/Reinhart
Jones/Drouin/Barkov.

Sigh. Hopefully Lex Luthor is actually smarter than everyone and picked the best player in 5 years.

Theres nothing okay about this hockey. I just want my f***ing superstar already.
There does seem to be a trend that whenever the habs pick high the high picks are bad. KK was a reach but the consensus guys at 3 weren't good, and Tkachuk wasn't consensus. Galchenyuk was consensus but disappointing. Then we get this past draft where the consensus is that the top picks will be second line players.

Chicago is blowing it up at the right time.

You need some breakout draft choices to win. It's usually easier to get them with high picks, but you just have to get them. If the habs don't get more than a few second pairing/line players out of the last 4-5 drafts they are going to continue to suck. I suppose in 2026 or so they'll have worked out the cap and will be in a position to go after FAs, but, by then the guys who are young now will be taking up cap space.

How in hell can you judge a kid after three days ? The guy is on a high since a full week now, possibly not sleeping well and scrutinize by everyone ?

Good luck champion ! Find yourself a sport to practice and take fresh air. You need it.
