Kakko is very overrated on this board. He’s a stats darling but he has flaws in his game that affect how transferable his skill are. As for Dach, I’m rooting for him and hoping for the best.

The good news with Dach is he is on a rebuilding team that will have better talent for MSL to tinker with. Letting them play more loose offensively does help with confidence. Kakko and Lafreneire are on a contender or legit playoff team so their coach is going to focus on things that Julien and Ducharme were obsessed about... assignments and don't make a key mistake.

J Hughes is a good example. Devils are also letting him play loose offensively. Lafreniere don't have this type of situation.

Lafreniere also has two players ahead of him signed long term that he pretty much has to outscore from the thrid line to displace. Dach was a third liner in Chicago but there might have been more flexibility.

Blackhawks were a mess like the Habs last year but they had Kane. Dach clearly needs maturity years but he could have also drowned like Caufield did with Ducharme.

MSL will provide Dach the best road to shine. It's up to Dach to work hard.

One thing is apparent and always was by the way. We absolutely need to keep that heavy motorized vehicle in motion this season. Keep in mind we are up against some experts for timing like Chicago FFS. Two cups and can now tank with impunity no questions asked. Woe is us.

3 cups with that core, actually.

Just be glad Pittsburgh isn’t tanking this year. They always find a way to get “the next one”

Ok, idk abt that. They literally somehow won the Kane lottery. They shouldn't have won.

Dev camp report

-Farrell was the best player in camp, he was dangerous on offense and good defensively, great skills, good shot, IQ is there, the puck always end up near him. He wins 1vs1 battle. He will be an NHL player

- Lane Hutson is Dynamite, he was the best defensemen on the ice. He had 2 goals and 1 assist. Very elusive on breakout but doesn't try to do too much, breakout pass, saucer pass, backhand pass are all always crisp and tape to tape. He intercepted at least 5-7 pass from the other team. He is always in good position and reads the play before it happens. On 1 play, Slaf was coming from the neutral zone with good speed on a clear 1vs 1 against Hudson, Slaf put his head down and try to cut to the net, Hutson close him and gave him a little bump and took the puck away from him very efficiently.

Adam Engstrom: very impressed with what i saw, very mobile and steady D, very good hockey IQ, very efficient. This guy has NHL upside. Not flashy but always the good play.

Slafkovsky: first 10 minutes he looked like a first overall pick, scored a sick goal on a turnover first shift after made 2 nice pass on a 2vs 1 and 3vs 1 -after that he was not very good. I don’t see anything Elite about him exept his size. He has good speed but not explosive, good shot but not a scary shot, good hands but always the same move or zone entry. Is IQ seems Average, He try to force the play and seems to know what he will try instend of reading the play and take what the D is giving him. He is still young and i think he would be okay in the AHL this year but could struggle, really not NHL ready

Other player that did good and i think have good potential

Kydney
Davidson
Mesar

Certain aspects will dominate in a free for all intersquad scrimmage — namely quick hands and feet. Players that slow the game down or play with more structure will suffer.

Yup.

Put Cooley in this and yes he will razzle and dazzle.

But let's see what's what in a grueling playoff series.
