Development Camp 2022 (July 10th-13th)

I don't get the Hudson hype at all, its a non contact environment with .. lets face it.. .not many good players out there. Meh, 5'7 145lb dman lol
It wasn't a non contact scrimmage even if contact was limited. Hutson got crushed along the board a few times, one even made the official highlight video.

The kid has obviously dominated at every level and was considered talent wise as good as any prospect in the 2022 draft. Will it continue? Will he get bigger and stronger? Probably.

Let's see how he does as a freshman in the NCAA this upcoming season and see what his trajectory is.

Wow Hutson is slick with the puck. He is a really shifty player. I'm hoping he pans out, he would make a great PP QB.

Hutson won't make it unless he actually grow. How many times per game will he be pushed around? I mean skating and skills are great so he will dodge it most of the time, but he's gonna play against very skillful and massive men.

He needs to magically grow, keep saying your prayers lil'Lane.

Lol @ Stu Cowan who clearly didn’t realize The kid is actually only 4’6” and 87 lb.

Hit in the highlight video was 32 knocking down 81. Hutson wore 85. Hutson did get plastered another time.

I read the development camp thread. It sounds like we have some exciting prospects.

What do Struble, Rhett Pitlick, Fairbrother, and Dach all have in common?

Answer: they're from the same draft class and are the same age. In my mind Dach is still a prospect who is developing, despite Chicago rushing him to the NHL early. Makes our prospect pool even deeper. I would have liked to have seen him at development camp.

How was Roy? I was expecting him to standout.

Usually the good skaters stand out at these kind of camps.

Roy will stand out more in pre season. He looked good last year, so curious to see the progression. A lot of times, the kids who look good during pre season while in their junior years eventually end up making an impact with the big club.

Happy for the kid!
Everytime, I watch this kid skate he reminds me of Malakhov. It's unbelievable that some want to trade (rid ourselves) of this talented player without giving him a chance. But maybe its not so unbelievable in the times that we all live in.

I get that wright has some supporters here who are salty about picking slaf. And I totally understand if wright is rocking the first season in NHL and Slaf not that there will be some nasty comments and comparasions. But jeez, trying to do it already on the third day of development camp? Even making things up like some guys here yesterday? With these non-existing videos yesterday from kraken dev camp where Wright looked like the God on the ice, only to find out that nothing like that happened. Because everyone actually could see that 15 seconds video. Yes I know. Everyone wants generational talent from 1 spot. But is that really hard to understand that there was no such player in this draft year? Minimum 3 scouting teams (filled with paid professionals) decided not to take someone you (supporters and not paid professionals) think was the best of the draft. Even there are rumors that had devils taken Jiricek Wright could have been taken from the seventh spot. Is not that suspicious about the guy You think is that good? You will get your chance. As a number one spot player, he is going to get his 9 matches where you can criticize everything you want but doing it in development camp? Be patient!
I think the biggest issue for Slaf isn’t just the intense MTL pressure but the pressure will 100x if Wright as a better start…
Wright going 4th is the best thing that could happen for him. Totally different situation because Habs had there share of the blame but Savard / Wickenheiser type situation in the age social media I don’t think anyone that could handle that avalanche of negativity… KK / Thackuk I also think the team mishandled KK but KK lose is smile pretty quickly once the negativity started to pile.

What players have stood out during camp?

Anyone disappoint?

Only saw the scrimmage on last day.

Best: Hutson
Liked: Mesar/Farrell/Heinenman
Not Bad but expected more from: Roy/Slafkovsky/Tuch
Disappointed: Kidney/Trudeau

One of the goalies were impressive but couldn't see who. Maybe Dichow.

So happy to see Hutson doing well. I was so happy we took him. Was surprised he was available to us.

Equally important to see Mesar is also doing well, as I thought we had better options at his pick.

Great job by the Habs staff this year!
