It's likely for when there's widespread access of the vaccines (not just Pfizer, but other ones in development).
And for schools, it's not any different than their current requirement in Ontario to have up to date vaccinations in order to access public education
That’s down the road when they get those other vaccines. And I have no problem adding this if and when it’s save. Although, flu vaccine isn’t mandatory.
We are in the process of educating our medical teams and had a Dr from DC give us a terrific presentation about this vaccine rollout yesterday. As of now there are a lot of questions about certain diseases, but, he did say pregnant and lactating women and those under 16 shouldn’t take now. There were lots of questions about other diseases and conditions as well. I think he said the Pfizer study will be in the NEJM this week so we will know more then.
I think the protocol will end up that the decision to take the vaccine or not will be between the individual and their physicians. The majority of the population will be able take it without consultation, but not all. There will be a recommend hierarchy of who gets inoculate after the healthcare workers, LTC, police, firefighters, etc.
I assume they'll do something similar in Canada.
If the province is going to give out a card and encourage private business to restrict access without the card, they should also issue a exemption card for people that can’t take the vaccine and other circumstances, like if you’ve tested cv19+ in the past 90 days.
