Only a matter of time until this comes here to Halton.

I have to laugh. I have two aunts who live right on the other side of Steeles...the Toronto side. They could have literally walked up the street to the Markham side and went from being locked down to having freedom.

Either lock it all right down, or keep it all open (I definitely advocate for the latter). Otherwise you are going to have situations like this, or the ones where people from Brampton are driving all the way to Markham and Newmarket to do their Christmas shopping.

One of my offspring works front line and has noticed how so many people are unhealthy.
I'm sure we have an epidemic of asthma right now, and COPD and other respiratory diseases that make it impossible for them to wear masks ;-)
Oh, well now if you can't wear a mask you have to wear a shield.

One example, a wife (she mentioned her husband - established relationship) is buying something and says, I have asthma I can't wear a mask, her husband comes in without a mask and the store will give you a mask so it is offered, and he says oh I have one in the car, hesitates then adds but I have asthma. That was before the change of rules, a mask, and if you can't wear a mask a shield.

Seriously, if the store has rules and you don't want to follow the rules go somewhere else, you really aren't special.
What if you’re pregnant and will be nursing a child? Do you think that person shouldn’t be allowed to go see the opera?

I’d suggest they make rules that make sense, mif they’re going to make them.

The seven worst regions are:
1. Peel
2. Toronto
3. Windsor
4. York
5. Hamilton
6. Durham
7. Halton

At this point, all 7 should have a hard shutdown. Back in November, only 3 or 4 regions would have needed one.

As for checkpoints, Quebec managed to have them separating high spread regions from rural low spread ones. People in the Montreal to Quebec City corridor could move within the corridor but could not enter other regions. There were checkpoints between Ottawa and Gatineau. Ontarians could only enter the Montreal area.

I will let you know if it works. All 5 of us went in yesterday to Dynacare for SARS-COV-2 TOTAL AB test (blood test). It was 70 each inclusive of tax. I was only 1 of 5 in our house who had symptoms and nose test confirmed POSITIVE. I am very curious if all 5 of us have antibodies or not? My wife and daughter tested NEGATIVE on da nose test. 5-7 days for results to post. This is more of a curiosity factor for me. I did not want to wait long because I hear these antibodies go away or at least below testing thresholds.

$150 in Calgary, looks like 10-15 minutes to results for Antibody test.

Wouldn't the flip side of that be that if a certain segment could be relied upon to do the bare minimum, maybe you wouldn't end up down said road?

Remember in elementary school where no one was allowed recess if the class wouldn't quiet down and there's always that one or two?

Keep blaming the "anti-maskers" or whatever you want to call them. There are more restrictions and masks than ever before yet cases are soaring. Why is that? Are the rebel super spreaders putting in over time?

You were probably one of the many calling immunity passports a conspiracy theory just a few months ago. Literally everything us conspiracy theorists predicted have come true so far. But keep pushing those goal posts. Damn anti-mask super spreaders ruining it for the rest of us compliant sheep.

You could be locked in a cage and you'd still blame it on anti-maskers while kissing your owners ass.

It is only a super spreader event when it is a conservative gathering. If liberals come together in solidarity to support a slain criminal/drug addict our healthcare experts claim that white supremacy is bigger problem than Covid. As far as I am concerned, many healthcare professionals and high ranking members of our government are traitors.

Anybody that studies history and learns the purpose of Operation Mocking Bird would know that the media has been corrupt for the last half century. We had a CBC article posted here about a hospital in Manitoba that was so overwhelmed that nurses were 'triaging' guests in the parking lot. When people went to visit the hospital it was empty and the nurse at the entrance was reading a Danielle Steele novel.

I work in the public sector. The amount of arrogance and disdain public servants have for people that work in the private sector angers me greatly. It is easy to lack empathy when you are getting paid your full salary, but what these mooks don't realize is that without a strong private sector the whole system will fall apart.

I don't believe a mother's nose comes into play when nursing.

well I was posting about her likely not being vaccinated and it would be silly to try and exclude her from public life.
If the Ontario government is planning to issue a card they have to also issue an exemption card or something similar to accommodate those that may be excluded from being inoculated, for whatever reason.

I like how you miss the point that it is largely stupid to "predict" something while simultaneously almost guaranteeing it through your actions. You aren't visionary, you have a grasp for the astoundingly obvious Sherlock.

For the record, I live in a place that has seen a grand total of 4 cases since March. What we did was put measures in place on travel. There is a US state of almost exactly the same population, city sizes etc. that has had over 86,000 cases and 1,000 deaths versus this province at just over 500 cases and 7 deaths. We are surrounded by high outbreak areas.

Best to keep being a freedom fighter though and enjoying self-fulfilling prophecy. Fill your boots. Meanwhile I believe I will go out for recess.

Doesn't change the question I asked though. I live in the GTA which has about 8 million people (depending on your boundaries) or 20% of Canada's population. If they put a curfew on Toronto, it would likely be applied to most or all of us.

The question again to the other poster: do they want curfews like Australia implemented?

Melbourne has a population of 5m 20% of the Australian population. If it were possible to do that here but once done life as normal? I’d do it. But as other posters have pointed out it’s not possible due to it not being an island obviously.

of course they would, they aren’t going to exclude people genuinely unable to receive a vaccine

Please list the conspiracy theory predictions you claim. I'm bored and need a good chuckle.

I find anti-maskers hilarious because its a very simple thing to do. Anti-Maskers are like that kid in school who purposely throws a tantrum and fights with the teacher for a dumb reason. Others in class break the rules all the time but do it discreetly.

Reason I say that is because im one of the many that definitely bend the rules. Im not a dumb anti-masker yelling at my local grocery store they stole my rights. Im the guy who drives north for a cottage weekend with 10-15 others. Both aren't helping the pandemic but the one person just publicly embarrasses themselves (in my eyes) while I enjoy beers dockside.

I agree, there has to be reasonableness.

We have to utilize some discretion.

Blind people aren't permitted to drive and I support that restriction.

Kind of reminds me of basic training about 47 years ago ... we had one recruit who didn't iron his pillow case because he was allergic to chicken feathers in his pillow.
Using the same argument, people with asthma cannot be held accountable because they are allergic to feathers.

Diatribes of Denial? Is that the bluegrass jazz fusion trio from Bumwad, New Hampshire? Their showstopper is The People Will Believe Anything (If It Allows Them Act Superior).

I figured you would not answer the why question. I believe what the vast majority of people believe, not foolish BS. Conspiracy theorists have been around for a long time and history reveals just how silly they are.

"Covid projections are fear mongering" - Could kill more than 350,000

"We are going to destroy our economy and reach unpayable debt levels" - Canada has reached 1 trillion in debt with no end in sight. 10s of thousands of businesses destroyed and counting.

"Greatest wealth transfer in history" - Amazon, Costco, Walmart record profits.

"Quarantine facilities"

"The great (global) reset"

"Mandatory vaccines/ immunization passports"

Snitch lines (reporting neighbors), tracking apps all predicted as well.

These are off the top of my head. They were all deemed conspiracies. Even "it's not going to be just 2 weeks" was considered conspiracy talk when this all began. We are now over 9 months in (due to non-compliant super spreaders of course).

Ya dude you know so much about me. I love going around screaming at grocery store clerks.
