I will say this, whether or not any of what we have discussed in the past 9 months, on both ends of the spectrum, it is becoming pretty clear how passive we are.

It was far too easy to fold into government regulations( regardless of reasons) and that the propaganda machine is turning fast from both sides.

We can predict the future from the past and it is easy to see how quick a society can rapidly change virtually overnight.

When parties have agendas it is diifucult to see through the lens to discern what truth is, and we do no good bashing each other over the head trying to get our points across.

This has been one wild year. No matter how you choose to spend your holidays, I wish you all a safe and happy one.

To be honest, I don't pay much attention to what the US military is doing (or not doing).

But I know my cousin who is a surgeon is getting his in the first round offered to Canadians. Lots of people getting it immediately.

That's not a conspiracy, that's a prediction of a reasonable thing that feeds into the fear of his base, fear that he helped create.

Kids have had "vaccine passports" for years, so have travelers. Want to go to country facing x outbreak? Prove you have the vaccine. Want to remain in school during an x outbreak? Prove you have the vaccine. Certain vaccines have long been "mandatory", in that you can opt out- but- if a situation arises where exposure is likely that decision may preclude you from certain activities. The difference is that exposure is unavoidable because the virus is endemic nationally at this point. The concept is no different - only the scale and prevalence of the disease

I heard that it needs to be yearly....I hope you're right and I am wrong...but the way these greedy bastards work...It would not shock me that its a 2x a year booster shot that needs to be given.

It doesn't really matter anyways...because in the next 5yrs there are going to be tons of bird flu scares and swine flu scares...all they have to do is warn people about the lockdowns of 2020 to get them to comply with whatever they want you to do.

The infectious disease doc we had yesterday said he felt it would 8-10 yrs for a booster. He was asked if they would eventually combine the flu vaccine and sars vaccine and if there were risks in doing so. I was pleased with his answer.

Although he is a very respected MD and is offering his insight that doesn’t mean it’s set stone, nor is it my opinion.

We just all have to roll with this. Wait until the campaign finally ends, if ever. How long though. 2 years, 5 years... maybe never.

If there's one thing this has confirmed, it's that we as a society are mostly powerless. We are not free like we have been led to believe our whole lives; we are only free so long as those in power allow us to be free. This freedom can be taken away overnight. What guarantee have we been given that our rights will be fully reinstated as they were one year ago before all of this?

People aren't necessarily worried about our rights being taken away, they are worried that they will not be reinstated AS THEY WERE BEFORE ALL OF THIS.. does that make sense to the naysayers?

The concept *is* different. My kid needs his yellow card to prove he's had his measles vaccine before attending school. A vaccine that's been around for decades and well understood. He doesn't need it to travel or enter a business. The covid vaccines are new, they were rushed and are surrounded by a haze of politics. I'm happy we have vaccines because they are a godsend to our most vulnerable and I see protecting our most vulnerable as the best way out of this calamity. That doesn't make me want to take it personally though.

Last time I looked I can still leave my house as I please. The only big thing I can't do is leave the country, which will come back once the vaccine is here. What freedoms are you worried is not coming back?

Changing topic, as far as vaccine restrictions go I think too many of you are worked up for nothing. I don't think they will restrict you from traveling the country or eating out. Where I think the restrictions come in is if you want to travel outside of Canada.

They have had 28k cases total during the whole pandemic, 3k active right now. 20k of those cases happened in Melbourne at the same time so they shut down the city. You should probably stick to things you know, one city was locked down with curfews and one other was locked down like we are (ie not really locked down at all, just some restrictions) all for a population of 25m only 10m less than Canada.
