He sounds a lot like Mike Babcock and sounds a little less "nerdy" if you will, than Kyle Dubas... I like how relaxed and conversational Treliving was. He's not Dubas, sitting stiff with fingers clasped on the table like he's Dustin Hoffman in Rainman or the constant adjustment of the fake glasses or the overuse of big words and constantly calling on media by name. Some of course was good traits in moderation, but Dubas comes off very unauthentic. Treliving was casual, fun and authentic.
But one thing I especially liked about Trelivings interview is he broke down the "core 4" talk and said something along the lines of this not being about a few players, this is the Toronto maple leafs, this is not a two player team or four player team, it's 23. I thought over the past few years it's been way too much about the core players, and not the rest of the team. Keefe especially played into that dialogue. It really felt like this team was four players and everyone else responsibility was to be a warm body and give the core 4 a breath.
Great start, I just hope Treliving isn't too old to embrace advanced state and use them.
