Re watching a couple clips, I thought it was particularly interesting for Treliving to call 'culture' overrated/overstated by many people (something I'd agree with). Also interesting to see how firmly Shanny spoke in support of the Leafs scouting/draft group - looks as if they most likely will be sticking around as a group

I'm still a bit pessimistic about Treliving, but I'd say less so overall after hearing him talk more.

I really doubt Shanahan seriously considered any other candidate though. This was definitely a bit of a false search for the sake appearances.

I don't know man. His "you gotta check to win" comment was pretty telling to me at least. Basically, your play without the puck should be as good or better than your play with the puck.

As much as I LOVE Willy; his play without the puck leaves a lot to be desired.

To me basically the B-man is saying if you are not playing well enough without the puck chances are you won't be a Leaf
yep feel the same. I have never seen a player pull up consistently like he does. Thats why when that clip of him throwing 3 checks on a single shift during the worlds was bizarre to see....like wtf... you have that in you?

I think the staff, especially the scouting staff, would have been kept until the draft anyway. Changes there are typically always made after it's done.

Every time there's a change of GM, the scouting and development staff changes one way or another. I don't think Wes Clark is in trouble because he seems really good but I do think they'll change a lot of the scouts and probably change the leadership in the development staff. I'd be shocked if there aren't a good amount of changes over the next 2-3 months. Treliving will probably want a few more guys he knows and trusts in a lot of those roles.

The Marlies need an entire coaching staff as well and I would not be surprised if they part ways with Hardy.

If he does decide to move one of the core 4, I’m thinking it will be Willy. So….

Who from Calgary do you want to see on the Leafs???

Rielly Schenn*
McCabe Andersson
Brodie Liljegren

*assuming we can sign them on deccent caphit/term; if not something else

I am fine with moving Brodie too to get a Big/Mean D-man that can PK

Yup, just get in. Seeding doesn't mean shit. Florida had the 17th most points and made it and are now in the finals.

I recall Babcock's 5 game segment stuff. Basically the goal is to get into the playoffs; and then anything can happen.

The year caps won and the bolts won they were aiming for "regular season" juggernauts. Heck Panthers won the presidents trophy last year and got school in the playoffs. Bruins this year is another example.

Trotz had Ovi backchecking like crazy. I recall one of the quotes from Trotz something along the lines of "you do what you want to do when you have the puck; you do what I want you to do when you don't have the puck"

Trotz would be one of my 1st choices if possible. Why cant we get a Trotz

You forgot to include Lafferty, unless it was on purpose. I wouldn't mind keeping him for another year.

Man, I wish we had Trotz!!! Too bad he wasn't available.

As long as that mandate includes the core 4 I'm ok with that.

I read a stat 90 percent of playoff time is spent on the walls. It is a different game, and some here just refuse to accept playoff hockey never really changes. Board battles, screens, dirty areas, blocks, physicality.

Exactly true and it's why Marner fades in the PO. He doesn't do the wall at all. Nylander sucks as well at that but he has the redeeming quality of high zone entry success rate. The guy gets in there every time and can out accelerate most the league in 2 strides. Just watch him dust people while entering the zone, it's awesome.
