5M can be better spent elsewhere than on an unproductive small winger. Hence, he will need a sweetener.

If you include Garland in a trade for Byram, you need to add a 1st just to dump Garland and then you need to add to get Byram!
Again Canucks have never needed to add a 1st to anything to get rid of a player post Benning era. Alvin has said that already, they aren't dumb. If a team asks for a 1st to be packaged with Garland, they will laugh and hang up. 1st is worth a lot more than you think when a team knows how to draft.

Then Nucks will be stuck with Garland- which is the likely outcome.

Teams that are desperate to get a tweener forward which they can't get in Free agency like Chicago, Arizona, Columbus etc. Garland can play on PP and can put up points. He isn't totally useless like Eriksson

Why is Chicago desparate to get Garland? Because the have cap space? Guess again. And why is Arizona desparate to get Garland? They once had him but then traded him to you. Remember?

Why was Chicago so desperate to get Beau without any retention?? Situations will happen where a team will want Garland

Because he was on an expiring contract. And if he reserected his game in Chicago, he could be traded at TDL with 50% retention for a much better return.

Many said OEL was a good player. That didn't work out so well for ya! ;)

Enjoy 2.75 years of Garland! lol
Yeah nothing wrong with Garland as he’s arguably playing on the best 3rd line in the league this year with all the fancy stats. Nobody was trying to shove him down anyone’s throats as he’s actually loved by the fans here. He gets mentioned obviously due to Cap but 95% of Canuck fans wanted Boeser gone last year over him and look how that’s turned out.

Unfortunately in the Cap world you have to trade salaries in deals to make it work, I’d argue Garland has zero value (future considerations) but he is a line driver.

So back on track.

Podkolzin + 1st in 2024?

And then you wake up and realize you had too much to drink.

Bo's falling out of flavour in COL. Before tonight, he was tied for the league lead in minor penalties, and took another in OT tonight. Not sure if he's got too much responsibility with Girard out, but his awareness (and confidence) is abysmal lately.

Doesn't necessary have to be a Dman coming back.
- Boone Jenner (if Columbus wants a culture change)?
- Konencny?
- Lundell (although I don't think FLA needs dman)?
- Or swap him for Noah Hanifin+?

What's his value?
Didnt he have concussion problems?

Has Byram struggled that badly this year? Likely growing pains or are they issues that he's always going to have due to lack of discipline or IQ?

Don't know what the Isles have that would interest Colorado, but he could be a nice fit next to Dobson or Pulock.

AVs wont get what they want for Byram imo. Prob better to just keep the kid

Gladly. Canadian fans haven’t had their teams winning anything since 1993. So. They have individual trophies and counting stats. The Avs can easily keep Big Game Byram.

No but Canadian players have been winning the cup before and after 1993.
Without Canadians the Americans wouldn't have a cup win period.

You just don't get it...Canadian fans largely despise the other Canadian based franchises....but we love our National teams which,in case you haven't noticed, does pretty well on every level...

Byram’s trajectory is towards being a disappointment relative to where he was drafted.

He isn’t as good as some people think he is and his value is no where close to where people in this thread are making it out to be. He is well on his way to being a bust.

A bust? Horrible take but I agree on the first part. I don't think he'll be a reliable top pairing defenceman but he's comfortably a 2nd pairing guy and that's far away from a bust and still okay out of a top 5 pick. As we've seen some d men picked in the top 5 don't even amount to that.
