This is one where the eye test comes in handy.

I agree that advanced stats aren't everything but they're also undeniable metrics in play. And over the last three years Byram has outpaced Seider in almost every 5v5 advanced stat.

Point production as well. To me the one real shocking statistic is that Seider has only 5 goals over 188 games in his three NHL seasons at 5v5. Seider is scoring at a pace of .24% PPG, while Byram is at .36% PPG.

So not only is Byram outplaying Seider, he's outproducing him as well. Health and power play time are the only things holding Bryam down IMO.

The past three years one of the worst players on the Aves that Byram played with was TJ Compher.

TJ Compher was just signed to be Detroites #1 centre. The team quality difference is vast.

Being appointed the teams toughest matchups and teams #1 D versus being the 3rd best on a loaded team certainly makes a difference

Was just a poor fit. Avs fans would clearly value BB higher than Zub, but Sens would be swapping their best RHD to acquire a guy to be their 4th best LHD. Doesn't work for either team.

Yeah right. Go check out the thread about the Sens almost being in last place. Obviously their D group is a who’s who of hall of famers.

^ Byram did that with the highest TOI opponents being Winnipeg's best forwards.

Wow you see that and think he’s the 8th or 9th best D on the Ottawa Senators. It’s amazing they haven’t won yet and are last place in their division.

Hey I will never blame Ottawa fans for doing whatever they have to do to their brains to forget that Dorion screwed them out of that pick.

Funny shit but Ottawa being the worst East team still let in 12 less goals than Colorado... Yeah, in 5 fewer games but still.

You do know that 12 / 5 = 2.4 goals per game. That's below NHL average right now. Not exactly the brag you think it is.

I'm too busy looking at Makar.

Makar has had his share of absolutely terrible nights, but Devon Toews is the guy Avs fans should really start worrying about.

I was very much against the Avs extending him and I was screamed at constantly that he would age well, but analytically he's already falling apart and that 7 year contract hasn't even started yet. Happy 30th birthday Devon!
