Edmonton doesn't suck. Far from actually.

They're just having a rough go of it right now.
Maybe not total suckage, but they had a lot of guys who had career years from their previous highs last year: McDavid (+30 points), Draisaitl (+18), RNH (+36) , and Hyman (+29).

Odds are maybe one or two at most repeats that. Plus they live and die by the PP - 7 of their 17 goals are on the PP.

They did, but that's fading fast. Their defense is atrocious. Last year was their best shot, I think.

Ekholm - 33
Kane - 32
Hyman - 31
RNH - 30

They are relying a lot on 30+ year olds, which doesn't really work. And they are tethered to them for a few years.

That, plus paying 7.6M over the next 3 seasons to a goalie who's not so slowly sliding in Cal territory and a question mark who broke apart against the Knights in the playoffs.

Speaking of, decided to look at Cal's AHL stats...it's not looking pretty when you're being outdone by a guy in his 7th year as a pro and has never been much more than a 3rd string AHL goalie/platoon ECHL goalie until now

They are saying that rangers goaltending coach benoit allaire has quick doing drills that keep him in the blue paint, protecting the middle of the net. Last year quick was way out of the crease jumping around in the white ice. Takes shorter routes to the save- thus being quicker to make the save.
Looks like yet another coaching masterpiece by our boys in management. Boy could we use this version of quick.

It wasn't going to happen here, Quick probably wouldn't have listened. It took a major shakeup for him to realize that the good old days were gone and he would have to change his style.

I mean even before this season it was easy to find a long list of kings who performed better when they left

the list keeps growing and getting more damning
