Always great to beat the dirtiest team in the league...The London Knights!! Beauty shorthand goal from Spellacy!!
Just a question....where does the booing for Cowan come from?
He’s a good player.Just a question....where does the booing for Cowan come from?
Rivalry game, and being “The” supposed guy for a failing team Canada WJ team… he got the hot crowd against him.Just a question....where does the booing for Cowan come from?
Technically, we beat them recently at home, unless you meant to add a caveat that London couldn't be down five guys due to the World Juniors in order for it to count.I didn’t realize it was such a drought vs London, but makes sense with last year.
First time we beat the knights since March 23’ when we clinched First in the Conference on the road.
First W vs London while Greentree’s had the C
Had world jr skates on also lolFrom what I heard, the initial booing was for Team Canada.
TuesdayDidn’t think Joey looked that bad but third one was soft. Felt the goalie change fired em’ up.
Spellacy’s great, but if that puck doesn’t go over the glass.. we have a different tone, but maybe a less exciting game. What a game winner.
One of the most exciting games I’ve been to this season. I’d rather see this Spits team down by 3 then up by 3, but truly didn’t expect the comeback vs London.
Keeps the dream of 1st place alive, and Frogget’s shaping up pretty well. Lots of special teams tonight. Both teams with 2 PP goals, and the Morneau goal was basically one, then the Shorty.
One of those games that gets you excited for the next. Elliot’s first loss in the OHL, now 20-1. Good to be that 1, but also an impressive stretch on his end.
London’s got a quicker turn around with Kitchener Wednesday.
Not sure how I forgot about that. I had previewed one of the remaining LDN/WSR games on the OHL site and it had Windsor at 1-2 vs the Knights this year, assuming they hadn’t updated with yesterday’s game. Thanks for clarification!Technically, we beat them recently at home, unless you meant to add a caveat that London couldn't be down five guys due to the World Juniors in order for it to count.
I gotta stop posting when I’m tiredTuesday
This isn't a London thing, it happens frequently across every league. Can someone answer this for me. Ive watched Londons games on tv. While one of their players is in a fight, someone else gets close to the fighters slapping his stick on the ice like a fool. Usually players bang there sticks on the boards from the bench. Sunday night they did the same.Is it just me or should they be given a misconduct penalty. Nobodies going to jump in, 2nd fight same stoppage.
Halt's hit was greasy dirty. Should have been looked at by the stripes. Definitely got away with one. Some thoughts...
- First London PP goal was a one-timer that I think Costanzo wants back. He looked like he could have it but, nope. Second one was a defensive issue where the player found the one gap away from anyone, yet in the slot. Tic, tac, boom. Third one was a point shot that created a rebound and it's in. Nesbitt needed to take the guy but missed. Oh well.
- I don't think Costanzo played poorly but he likely wants at least two of the goals back.
- Froggett made me nervous; it's London we're talking about. Boy do I like being proven wrong in this case. He was a rock, making some monster saves.
- Spits' first goal was hard work and puck movement. Nice shot from Morneau.
- Protas... the guy is a beast. You're not stopping him if he has a chance. Nice pass from Cristoforo on the first goal. The second one was a beauty shot, wide open. I thought Nesbitt tipped it in (I was close to it), but Protas works, too.
- That's the Spellacy we've been waiting for. Speed to burn, hands figured it out, one of the biggest goals of the season! And... SH!
- Yes, going down 3-0 wasn't fun but this team has shown what it can do when it gets going. What a response to Thursday!
- Allowed just six shots against in the third period. The defence, most of the game, was what you wanted. They hit, they played smart, and they got the job done.
- No idea why Gaymes dropped the gloves. I believe he's at three fights now. I do appreciate McNamara going with Halttunen for the hit on Nesbitt. I want to see the replay because it looked like an ugly hit on Nesbitt so... instigator seems odd. I'm not a fan of that rule in most cases, including this one. But, props on McN for going, regardless.
- Amazing energy from the crowd, all over the Knights from start to finish. As close to a Windsor Arena crowd as we've seen in quite some time. They were loud, into the game, taunting, chirping, the works. More of that, please!
On another note, someone was hit in the stands with a failed clearing attempt in the first period, I believe. I couldn't tell much other than they got help and had to leave the game. Hopefully they're okay and I know the Spits were worried/hopeful (from the post-game coverage on YT).
Also... hopefully Davis and Costello return on Wednesday or next weekend, at least. Last I heard, they were close so...

Bad tweet by Windsor media for sure..Was at the game last night and something going this morning so posting a little late on this one.
Some have already posted on this but I was very impressed with the play of Nesbitt. Definitely drawing attention from the Knights. Not sure how the hit on him was not a penalty but it seemed to get the Spits more engaged after. Also seems to be the go to guy for key faceoffs. Not sure on his numbers but coaching staff are putting more trust in him for the key ones. Scouts have to be seeing this as well.
Another thing for me was the 4 08's getting quality ice time. Can't say enough about them when all 4 are an important part of the teams success. Not sure how many other teams are using 4 rookies and having the success the Spits are getting from them? This looks very promising for the future.
I saw the ill advised quote from the Spitfire media team and they need to be better.
Having said that London does not lose gracefully and when you see their head coach going off on a tyrant and Simpson having to guide him towards the dressing room you can see why they act that way. They were trying to start fights, screaming at the bench, slaming doors, throwing things on their bench and taunting the Spit bench. Not liking to lose is one thing but that was over the top. Starting with the head coach and down they need to be better. London fans calling the post classless is true but an internal review of their own teams behavior is over due. Rant over.
