I’m still convinced Chinakov has star potential at the NHL level… he was put in the nhl much too early . Have to imagine a call up is coming ant time now
I agree. The only thing that worries me, is if he is unlucky when it comes to injuries. He has only played 3 games so far coming off of an injury. I would like to see him play some more and get into more of a game shape before sending him up. His shot is really something to see though. It seemed like with his shootout goal, the puck was already past the goalie before he reacted to it.

Chinakhov wrister is on par with Bedard minus the toe drag shot, if he can also improve accuracy on it, he is lethal

Before the injury last year, everyone noticed that his physical play improved and he definitely added some muscle

You mean injury-prone?

When he can wind up. He and almost nobody else can do what Sakic did in stride or with a quick flick of the wrist. Its Chinakov's biggest area to improve in the NHL, find/create space to use that shot
And hit the net with it, he still misses quite a few of those

So when Chinny comes up, who goes down/potentially gets lost to waivers so people can complain about it?

I noticed LDBB was not in the lineup last night. Thought he started off strong after finally getting into a game. Thoughts on why he was scratched (health, performance, matchup, etc)?

@Jackets Woodchuck Any sight of Svozil in the morning skate?

Just a note, I do not have access to morning skates or any practices at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse as I am not officially media (I only have that status for baseball). All of the practices I attend are at the Brunswick Auto Mart Arena in Strongsville, which are open to the public, although not well-publicized outside of Training camp.

He likely only got in the lineup last week because Malatesta was injured. There must be some reason, but I'm not sure why.

I am thinking it may be Columbus' call for him. They probably let Vogelhuber know who they want getting time based on order of who the may call up due to injury or whatever. He may be low on the list of possible call ups, so he gets less playing time.

As the season goes by, he will be worked into the lineup because of injuries or other moves.

I am just speculating.

Flat out... just like Columbus, there are too many players in Cleveland to support. While we (fans) like it to be for development, it is still a business and they still want to win. Ceulemans has been a scratch as well. They have depth and need to balance. They aren't all going to be playing every game. Key is to get enough games to support development at game speed.

Actually, it is pretty purely developmental. The business end is more about the promotional nights and other such stuff. I don't think anyone on the hockey ops side has a paycheck signed by Dan Gilbert.

Chinakhov is a beast. What a shot this kid, it's unbelievable. I don't think I have ever see a goal of his where the puck doesn't rattle out of the net with speed. He must have freak level forearm strength along with incredible technique.

He's also way too good for the AHL but it's still nice to see him doing well where he's at. He needs to be in the NHL, this team desperately needs goals.

With how much Vincent is talking up Voronkov I don’t see him going back.

So unless we’re going to send down KJ, Sillinger, trading Boqvist/Peeke, or waive someone I don’t know where we’re getting that roster spot for Chinakhov for a bit. He needs to stay healthy and get his legs under him a bit.

But yeah, he does appear too advanced for the AHL. But they’ve got some tough calls to make to get him up here

Waiving Peeke is the easy answer or trade him if anyone is willing to take that contract. I'd also send KJ down to figure some things out until he looks good.

And wearing a neck guard, too! Good to see the young players trying them out.
Yeah. The whole line had them on except Cuelemans. There are more players wearing them than the last game. TFW wasn't wearing one Wednesday, but he is tonight.

Just saw the game is on Bally. Great!

edit: great? Tuned in just in time to see a Providence goal, KJ line being dominated and Gaunce get a penalty.

Johnson with the nice assist on Meyer goal. Still a minute and a half on the PP.

DBB from Gaunce. 2 PP goals on the 5 on 3. That is how it is done. Gaunce just missed DBB a few seconds before.

KJ had two nice passes on that PP. the 2nd was the assist though the first one should have triggered a goal by Meyer.
