What even is this?
I'm reminded of a quote from Billy Madison.
You all know which one.

Why experiment when we already know the Rielly Schenn pairing works?
That was two years ago. Players can change in two years. Especially older players. Rielly is a good example of that. Anyway Schenn is a Penguin now.

With looking on who is available for trade…none of those players are worth trading first round picks Minton or Cowan.

Laughton is a 4th line scrub. I would much rather bring up Minton to play 3C in the playoffs. No f***ing way I am trading young blue chips and first round picks for that guy.

Often the best move you make, is in fact the move you don’t make. Treliving needs to stand pat. I believe this team is going to be very good in the playoffs. Just as they are.

Agree 100%

Look at how comical the Tampa/Seattle trade is - - TWO (2) firsts plus a second for a has-been Yan Gourde and mediocre middle six guy Bjorkstrand?

I’d be furor Treliving made a trade that dumb.

What would it take to get Mario Ferraro from San Jose - - Minten plus a mid round draft pick to a third team for salary retention?

Ferraro would be a great fit with Rielly.

The best fit with Rielly is two new defensemen and Rielly in another city.

The Leafs should stand pat at the deadline or else be acquiring players who are part of the medium term and are outer core level guys who can grow into core members. Like the Hagel equivalent deal a couple of years ago. If it’s to win in 2025, the team isn’t in position to do so.

The Leafs management has to be more ruthless when it comes to the trades. Find your guy(s) and do whatever it takes to get him.

Tampa has done that in the past, mortgaging their so called future to get their guy. They're still in contention year after year. Florida didn't fall in love with Weegar or Huberdeau, they found their guy Tkachuk and made the trade. Boston has done the same and although they're faltering a bit now, they've been bold with their moves.

If Rantanen is available, you get him, within a reasonable cost. If it's Schenn you want, make it happen. I'm getting tired of this half-ass working around the edges of this team. Too much money invested in 4 guys, and now they're talking of giving Tavares $7 million? The beat goes on.

I love your attitude.

2026, well we sold the farm in 24/25. 2030 well this is because 24/25. 2032, well we had to overpay him, look at the cap.

The question you have to ask, is Tampa better with those two guys in their lineup. Unquestionably they are. They see an opportunity to win this year, and are taking it. Deal with the future in the future when you have a chance to win now.

But I have to assume the Pens will try to flip Schenn. They're going nowhere this year, or for the next few most likely.

I supposing losing in the second round is “better” than losing in the first round.

Four months from now, BrisBois is going to wake up a realize he’s only got one year of Ollie Bjorkstran to show for two firsts and a second.

It’s the equivalent of waking up in Rio de Janeiro without any pants on and missing your wallet and passport.

And I keep going back

Now that he controls Schenn’s destiny is Dubas trying to keep him out of the Leafs hands ?

It’s comical how this clown continues to just keep bringing back his former players.

Filled up the Leafs with mediocre ex Soo Greyhounds. Now filling up the Penguins with mediocre ex Leafs.

Worst GM in hockey history.

I was team all in, and still am to some degree. But the market is just so bad.

You can’t give up any of Minten,Danford,Cowan or next years first for any of the players bandied about except Parayko and maybe Rantanen. And even then Mikko is a nice to have but doesn’t technically address a true need.

Unless some big names come out of the woodwork, you use some 2-4th round picks and other B level prospects to get you the best depth C and RD you can scrounge up.

If you were going to move any of our big pieces pieces, we’d get so much more value doing so in the summer. We just can’t throw them away for mediocre pieces now. It’s just bad business.

That said I’m doing everything I can to look at players who are worth the Cowans and trying to pry them loose at the last minute. Roman Josi I’m looking at you sir.
