Pierre Luc Dubois has had an obviously remarkable turnaround. The entire commentary about his game has shifted dramatically.

What other players can you remember that in one season seemed to have this seismic a shift. Verhaeghe comes to mind.

What say you?

Mikael Granlund went from being an under-performing cap dump in the Erik Karlsson trade to an almost ppg player for the Sharks and now Stars.
Granlund is another one with an up and down career, hitting 60+ points many times and then taking a dive in subsequent seasons

There's also that kid Mario Lemieux who only had 37 points in 1993-94 and then had 161 in his next NHL season :sarcasm:

I think the difference is that PLD had a narrative. And the switch flipped. He wasn't up and down, he was just down, moved to his 4th team because of disinterest and laziness. Now this?

Nichushkin had 10 assists in 57 games in his last season for the Stars and wasn't tendered a qualifying offer. He signed with the Avs and has been a 70ish point player per 82 over the last 4 seasons.

Not that it matters, but you mean e.g. PLD, not i.e., which translates to "that is", rather than "for example".

Lehkonen would be a good example though. Completely snakebitten for years on Montreal, really found his game in Colorado.

As a Caps fan for 20+ years, I watch every game I can. What has impressed me most about PLD, given his supposed motivational issues, is how well he has accepted a shutdown role. His line is paired up against the other teams top line whenever Carberry can arrange it. His willingness to play the less glamorous role of a shutdown center has been a pleasant surprise.
