There's been zero Kuemper extension rumors right? That makes me nervous. Could be that he's taking the Grubauer route, or could be that Sakic isn't satisfied with his results.

Kuemper is gonna want to cash in on the back of his regular season at his age, and it shouldn't be the Avs who give him a juicy deal.

Sakic likes the $3.5m range for his starter so we'll probably see a trade. Probably/hopefully Varlamov.

Behind this Avs team playing elite defense most nights. Kuemper is gone unless he takes a steep paycut to stay instead of going to Edmonton or some other hole.

f*** he’s been so bad, praying he can come up with two good enough performances to win this thing but certainly don’t want him back. This team is a reliable goalie away from special things.

I'd sooner beg the Kraken to trade us back Grubauer than to give this bum the extension he's likely seeking.

Surely he knows he's costing himself millions of dollars with his playoff performance?
For all the shit Gru got last year he at least had a .914 last year. Kuemper has a f***ing .892. It’s unbelievable. Imagine how much better we’d have been getting .914 this postseason.

He most certainly is costing himself money, but he has a floor still.

Avs certainly have an issue to solve this summer and it makes the 2nd line even harder to figure out.

As I said a few weeks ago, the focus should be keeping this top-6 together. The 92-29-13 / 62-91-96 combination is simply impossible to match up against for other teams. I think Burakovsky walks in any case, and Nuke is signed long, long term (6-8 years) Next year should look like this:

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Nichushkin
Lehkonen - Kadri - Rantanen
Newhook - Myers - x
LOC - Helm - NAK

Toews - Makar
Byram - Manson
Girard - x

Cap space depends on EJ/Compher being traded, but it's definitely do-able.

Once again, Erik Johnson will not be traded.

The same nostalgic part of my heart that wanted Stastny back wants them to grab Varly for his last contract year. Punt the goaltender problem down the road for one more year.

Varly? Uh...no.

You sure do love to shoot down other's ideas. What would you do to solve the goaltending for next year? I'm in the Gibson camp personally.

When they're bad ideas? I sure do. Varly is no longer a viable starter in the NHL. I don't know why the hell his name keeps coming up. People pine over him even though he really only had one truly great season in Colorado. There's a reason he was let go the first time around.

I've suggested possibly looking into bringing in Ville Husso. He isn't a proven starter by any means but he put up respectable numbers behind a team that was actually really bad defensively in the regular season, and if nothing else there's more raw material there than anything the Avs currently have in the system.

There's also the possibility of convincing Marc-Andre Fleury to do a one-year run with the Avs. He'll be 38 in November though, so that is a huge gamble to say the least. No idea if he really has anything left in the tank.

If Gibson is available I have no doubt Sakic will inquire. Just depends on the price. My big concern with Gibson isn't the ability, it's the injury history.

Beyond that though, no idea. I think even if Darcy were to suddenly find a new level and shut out the Bolts the next two games, the Avs will not retain him. And they shouldn't. This is basically Antti Niemi in Chicago if indeed it happens.
