I think Nichushkin will be closer to $6.5M than $5.5M.

And Lehkonen will be closer to $5M than $4M.
Neither guy has the numbers to justify those amounts though. Leks is an RFA, so hopefully it works out long-term because I'd hate to lose that guy in only a year or two after what we gave up for him.

As for Nuke, if he was able to go out and get a $6.5M multi-year contract as a UFA, that would pretty much be unprecedented. Most players aged 26-28 on their 3rd/4th contract that end up signing a contract that starts with a 6 have several seasons as top-6 forwards under their belt. Last year, Jaden Schwartz signed for $5.5M after putting up FIVE 50+ point seasons in the prior 7 years.

Now I get it, Nuke is a different animal but I see his situation a bit like Danault's last year. He only managed to snag a six year deal at $5.5M after coming off a 24 point season (+4 points in the playoffs) but such a great run as a strong 2-way force during the playoffs. Still he had two 40 point seasons and a 53 point season in the past five years before signing in LA and he plays a much more important position. You could argue that Danault was more proven as a top-6 F when he became a UFA than Nuke is this year.

For those reasons, I believe Nuke will re-sign with the Avs and Avs fans will be happy with the deal.

Lehkonen is an RFA making $2.3M and didn't have very big numbers before coming to Colorado. Joe will probably look to give him a contract like Compher's $3.5M or Donskoi's $3.9M (signed as a UFA though).

God’s truth, I’m happy with anything long term up to $4.75M

He had good playoffs last year and was having a good season before the trade. If the Avs plan to play him in the top 6 then somewhere around 4.5M is fine as long as the term is there (3+ years).

I'm sure we can have him for like 3.5M on a one year deal then lose him next summer for nothing.

He was good in last year's playoffs, but he didn't put up these numbers. He had 3 goals and 4 points in 17 playoff games. And his career high was 31 points before his 38 this year with scoring up.

He'd probably be worth $4.5M if he can keep producing on the Avs like he has. And I think there's a good chance he does.

But Joe tends to get good value on RFA's like him. I would guess $4M is his max on a multi year deal.

Last time in a similar situation he signed Nuke and Bura to only 2 year deals. That's what I'm scared of.

I think he'll look at Lehky differently. Both Nuke and Burky were bigger risks for big dollar long term deals when they were signed than Lehkonen is.

Perhaps I'm overstating it somewhat. But due to their defensive capabilities, they are different animals than your run of the mill UFA scoring wings.

Also, there are some pretty good UFA wings this offseason. Some good players to choose from at that position.

Holy crap....so, I just refreshed my web-browser and noticed there were two feeds available. I selected the one called "Ice Cast: Colorado Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Blah, blah, blah...and this feed does not have the TOI ticker taking up the bottom 1/4 of the screen. So that's good to know for future espn games.

It'll be Varlamov.
I'm not sure if you're serious or not, but given what the market looks like for goalies this summer this could happen. There's familiarity with the forwards and EJ. It should cost much to get him either. Joe might get him for cheap at 3.5M or for a dance at full price.

Not sure I would mind terribly either. I actually liked Varly. Not sure I ever felt that way about Gru and DK. I root for Frank though but at best he's 1B.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not,
Deadly.

Sorokin is ready, the Islanders are tight to the cap, clearing Varly out could free up $4m, he used his NTC to stay out of Edmonton at the deadline, Lou's made salary dump trades the past couple years (Toews, Ladd, Boychuk) and he's almost 80 and might want to make one last run.

How's the cancer going?
